Sufficient dimension reduction (SDR) embodies a family of methods that aim for reduction of dimensionality without loss of information in a regression setting. In this article, we propose a new method for nonparametric function-on-function SDR, where both the response and the predictor are a function. We first develop the notions of functional central mean subspace and functional central subspace, which form the population targets of our functional SDR.

Objectives: We report results for newborn hearing screening in a cohort of children born in the Île-de-France region of France, as part of a national screening program set up by the French national health insurance agency.
Materials And Methods: A prospective study was performed on neonates undergoing hearing screening by automated auditory brainstem response at 35 dB in maternity departments between 2005 and 2011. In case of positive findings, a further check was performed; if this was also positive in one or both ears, the child was referred to the diagnostic center.

Introduction: New techniques have been proposed for the surgical treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH): laser enucleation and laparoscopic adenomectomy. The objective of this retrospective study was the comparison of the results of Millin adenomectomy realized under contemporary medical conditions, with the results of laser enucleation and laparoscopic adenomectomy.
Method: Two hundred and forty consecutive Millin adenomectomy cases performed between January 2004 and December 2008 were analyzed.

Background And Aim Of The Study: Overall, the efficacy of the newer antidepressants: serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), selective serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA) and tianeptine is similar to that of the tricyclics, and so their acceptability/safety becomes a selection criterion for the clinician. However, side-effect assessment comes up against several difficulties: distinguishing between somatic symptoms caused by the depression and those caused by the treatment -- which assessment tool to use (spontaneous notification, standardized scales that are not specific for the side effects caused by psychotropic drugs, standardised scales specific for the side effects caused by psychotropic drugs, meta-analysis, etc.) -- which data sources to consult (anecdotal reports, reviews, prospective studies), and which data set to use, etc.
