Some novel imidazole derivatives were developed for highly sensitive chemisensors for transition metal ions. Since these compounds are sensitive to different external stimulations such as UV irradiation, heat, increasing pressure and changing the environmental pH causing colour change and so they can be used as a 'multi-way' optically switchable material. A prominent fluorescence enhancement was found in the presence of transition metal ions such as Hg(2+), Pb(2+) and Cu(2+) and this was suggested to result from the suppression of radiationless transitions from the n-π* state in the chemisensors. The existence of C-H….O intramolecular hydrogen bonding in dmphnpi is confirmed by the Natural Bond Orbital analysis (NBO). The Mulliken, NBO charge analysis and the HOMO-LUMO energies were also calculated. The electric dipole moment (μ) and the first-hyperpolarisability (β) value of the investigated molecules have been studied both experimentally and theoretically which reveal that the synthesized molecules have microscopic non-linear optical (NLO) behaviour with non-zero values. Ground and excited state DFT calculation were carried out in order to find out dipole moment and energy.

Background: Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury refers to cell damage that occurs as a consequence of the restoration of blood circulation following reperfusion therapy for cardiovascular diseases, and it is a primary cause of myocardial infarction. The search for nove therapeutic targets in the context of I/R injury is currently a highly active area of research. p70 ribosomal S6 kinase (S6K1) plays an important role in I/R induced necrosis, although the specific mechanisms remain unclear.

Adult-type diffuse gliomas are characterized by inevitable recurrence and very poor prognosis. Novel treatment options, including multimodal drugs or effective drug combinations, are therefore eagerly awaited. Tinostamustine is an alkylating and histone deacetylase inhibiting molecule with great potential in cancer treatment.

A novel fluorescent probe, Bibc-DNBS, based on the combination of the PET (photoinduced electron transfer) and ESIPT (excited-state intramolecular proton transfer) mechanisms, was designed and synthesized. Bibc-DNBS exhibited a Stokes shift of 172 nm in the fluorescence detection field. In addition, the probe exhibited good performance in key parameters in bioassays such as sensitivity, specificity, and response time.

Pantothenate (Pan), or vitamin B5, is essential for the synthesis of co-enzyme A (CoA), acetyl-CoA, and numerous downstream physiological processes. We previously demonstrated that Pan is not only essential for mosquito survival, but also for the development of malaria parasites within the mosquito, suggesting that targeting Pan and CoA biosynthesis may be a novel approach for malaria control. However, little is known about how Pan is acquired and mobilized within the mosquito.

Endosomal toll-like receptors (TLRs) TLR7, TLR8, and TLR9 play an important role in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) pathogenesis. The proteolytic processing of these receptors in the endolysosome is required for signaling in response to DNA and single-stranded RNA, respectively. Targeting this proteolytic processing may represent a novel strategy to inhibit TLR-mediated pathogenesis.
