The synthetic strategies, structural comparison, and thermal gravimetric analyses for a novel family of alkaline earth metal perfluoro-tert-butoxides (PFTB) are presented. The isolated complexes follow the general formula, [Ae(PFTB)(2)(d)(x)]; (1a, Ae = Mg, d = THF, x = 2; 1b, Ae = Ca, d = THF, x = 4; 1c, Ae = Sr, d = THF, x = 4; 1d, Ae = Ba, d = THF, x = 4; 2a, Ae = Mg, d = DME, x = 1; 2b, Ae = Ca, d = DME, x = 2; 2c, Ae = Sr, d = DME, x = 2; 2d, Ae = Ba, d = DME, x = 3; 3a, Ae = Mg, d = diglyme, x = 1; 3b, Ae = Ca, d = diglyme, x = 2; 3c, Ae = Sr, d = diglyme, x = 2; 3d, Ae = Ba, d = diglyme, x = 2; THF = tetrahydrofuran, DME = 1,2-dimethoxyethane) where the crystallographically characterized compounds display either a cis or trans conformations in octahedral or pseudo-octahedral environments. Alkane elimination (Mg), direct metalation via ammonia activation (Ca, Sr, Ba), and transamination (Ca, Sr, Ba) methods yielded the target compounds in moderate to good yields. Structural studies of select compounds showed all compounds to be monomeric with varying degrees of co-ligand coordination, possibly explaining some of the observed physical properties. Thermal gravimetric analyses of the compounds shows sublimation at low temperatures, associated with minimal residue, making this family of fluoroalkoxides promising candidates for metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD).

Heteroleptic An (An = U, Np) chlorido-ketoenaminate complexes of the type [AnCl(TFB-BuA)(THF)] ( type: , ; TFB-BuA = 4-(-butylamino)-1,1,1-trifluorobut-3-en-2-one) and the homoleptic Np heteroarylalkenolate complexes [Np(PyTFP)] (, PyTFP = 1-(pyridin-2-yl)-3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-en-2-ol) and [Np(DMOTFP)] (, DMOTFP = 1-(4,5-dimethyloxazol-2-yl)-3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-en-2-ol) were synthesized and characterized (SC-XRD, NMR, Vis-NIR, MS). While their solid-state structures compare well to those of their uranium analogues, the behavior in solution showed significant differences. The binding motif of the DMOTFP ligand in complex can change to form two different complex isomers, as seen by paramagnetic chemical shifts in NMR experiments.

Potassium-telluroether interactions: structural characterisation and computational analysis.

Chem Commun (Camb)

Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, L8S 4M1, Canada.

Dissolution of the potassium complex [K(ATe)(dme)] (1-Te) in THF, layering with hexanes, and cooling to -30 °C afforded X-ray quality crystals of [K(ATe)(THF)] (2-Te). The K-TeR distances in 2-Te are substantially shorter than those in 1-Te, and DFT and QTAIM calculations support the presence of K-TeR interactions, providing the first unambiguous examples of s-block-telluroether bonding. Attempts to prepare bulk quantities of 2-Te afforded [K(ATe)(THF)] (3-Te), and further drying yielded [K(ATe)(THF)] (4-Te) and [K(ATe)] (5-Te).

The protection of UCK2 protein stability by GART maintains pyrimidine salvage synthesis for HCC growth under glucose limitation.

Overexpression of uridine-cytidine kinase 2 (UCK2), a key enzyme in the pyrimidine salvage pathway, is implicated in human cancer development, while its regulation under nutrient stress remains to be investigated. Here, we show that under glucose limitation, AMPK phosphorylates glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase (GART) at Ser440, and this modification facilitates its interaction with UCK2. Through its binding to UCK2, GART generates tetrahydrofolate (THF) and thus inhibits the activity of integrin-linked kinase associated phosphatase (ILKAP) for removing AKT1-mediated UCK2-Ser254 phosphorylation under glucose limitation, in which dephosphorylation of UCK2-Ser254 tends to cause Trim21-mediated UCK2 polyubiquitination and degradation.

A Manufacturing Technique for Binary Clathrate Hydrates for Cold and Very Cold Neutron Production.

Materials (Basel)

January 2025

Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), 71 Avenue des Martyrs, 38042 Grenoble Cedex 9, France.

Intense sources of very cold neutrons (VCNs) would be beneficial for various neutron scattering techniques and low-energy particle physics experiments. Binary clathrate hydrates hosting deuterated tetrahydrofuran (THF-d) and dioxygen show promise as potential moderators for such sources due to a rich spectrum of localized low-energy excitations of the encaged guest molecules. In this article, we present a reliable manufacturing technique for such hydrates.

A novel isopthalamide based receptor HL2 featuring two p-benzoic acid units has been synthesised and its anion binding properties analysed by H-NMR spectroscopy in DMSO-d/0.5 % HO. As expected, in the presence of tetrabutylammonium (TBA) fluoride the deprotonation of the carboxylic acid moieties was observed.
