Published: July 2010

The present study investigated the therapeutic effects and indications of keyhole transsylvian approach (KTA) in the treatment of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH). Clinical data of 65 cases of HICH were retrospectively analyzed. All the patients were treated by open surgical evacuation either through KTA (KTA group) or through conventional craniotomy approach (CCA group). The operative time, intraoperative bleeding quantity, the length of hospitalization, mortality, and favorable outcome were compared between the 2 groups. Compared with the CCA group, the KTA group had smaller bleeding quantity and shorter length of hospitalization. Favorable outcome at 3 months after admission was higher in the KTA group than that in the CCA group. The present study suggests that treatment of HICH through KTA is a practical and effective surgical procedure.

Background: This study aimed to develop a prediction model for intestinal perforation from meconium ileus (MI) based on findings from plain X-ray images.

Methods: Very low birth weight (VLBW) infants with MI hospitalized in two tertiary centers between 2011 and 2022 were included in this study. We retrospectively reviewed clinical parameters and assessed plain X-ray images from 0 to 5 days of age.

Two new reduced phases derived from the topical excitonic insulator candidate TaNiSe have been synthesized via the intercalation of lithium and potassium from solutions of the metals in liquid ammonia. Li(NH)TaNiSe and KTaNiSe both crystallize in orthorhombic space group with the following lattice parameters: = 3.5175(1) Å, = 18.

Context: Translating new evidence into clinical practice is a dynamic and iterative process. Research is ever evolving specific to concussion rehabilitation and requires a systematic approach rooted in science for translation into clinical practice. The knowledge-to-action (KTA) cycle framework is an effective strategy to ensure optimal outcomes and sustainability.

Objective: To investigate the evidence-based practice of prevention and care of nasal and facial pressure injuries in patients with non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) using the knowledge to action framework (KTA), and to explore its effectiveness.

Methods: Using an evidence-based nursing approach, an evidence-based practice group was established to formulate a clinical problem, the literature from domestic and international databases were researched for relevant evidence, the evidence was introduced into clinical scenarios, an evidence-based practice plan was developed, and a strategy for applying the best evidence was constructed by conducting a baseline review of healthcare professionals and patients with NPPV, analyzing barriers and promoting factors, and making changes in clinical practice at the organizational level, the practitioner level, and the patient level. Purposive sampling method was used to select the healthcare staff of the cardiac surgical intensive care unit (CSICU) of the Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University, as well as the patients with NPPV admitted from October 1 to November 15, 2023 (pre-evidence-based practice) and November 16 to December 31 (post-evidence-based practice), as the subjects of the study.
