Mechanical roughening reportedly had a weakening effect on bond strength. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of an alternative surface roughening method, namely oxygen plasma treatment, on the tensile bond strength between denture base resin and soft liner. The soft liner used in this study was Soft Reverse, whilst the denture base material was Zi Ran. Three groups of specimens were prepared, comprising untreated specimens and oxygen plasma-treated specimens with exposure to air for 1 day and 2 days. All specimens were subjected to surface composition analysis and tensile bond strength testing. All data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, and their mean values were compared using Tukey's HSD test (p<0.01). Highest tensile bond strength was observed in the 1-day exposure group (5.2 MPa), whilst the lowest in the control group of untreated specimens (2.8 MPa). Hence, results of this study clearly indicated that oxygen plasma treatment was effective in enhancing tensile bond strength.

Introduction The cushion effect of soft liners serves to distribute the mastication forces and stresses more evenly, along with absorbing energy. Instead, soft liners can act as a nidus for microbial growth, especially Candida species. An accumulation of these fungi is a problem encountered during the clinical use of them, especially in immunocompromised individuals.

Prosthetic bone and joint infections are difficult to treat with varying levels of success with standard therapy. Synthetic calcium sulfate carrier, to which specific antibiotics can be added, can be utilized as an alternative drug delivery system in these cases. We have reviewed clinical outcomes using commercially available pure synthetic calcium sulfate dissolvable beads (Stimulan) loaded with antibiotics in 143 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery for prevention and treatment of joint infection.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the tensile bond strength between soft relining materials and different denture base materials.
Materials And Methods: The study was conducted in accordance with ISO 23401:2023. A total of 288 rectangular specimens (10L × 10H × 20W mm) were fabricated from various denture base materials, including a heat-compression polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), two types of milled PMAA, and three types of 3D-printed resins, with bonding using two chairside soft reline materials (Coe-Soft and Lynal).

Pseudotumors are a rare complication of total hip arthroplasty (THA), arising from local soft tissue reactions. These reactions can lead to painful joint effusions and prosthetic loosening, often necessitating revision surgery. Metal-on-metal and metal-on-polyethylene prostheses are particularly prone to this complication due to the accumulation of metal debris from prosthetic wear, which represents a significant drawback.
