The Recovery retrievable inferior vena cava filter (C. R. Bard, Tempe, Arizona) was approved in the United States for temporary and permanent prophylaxis against pulmonary embolism. A few reports in the literature document fracture and migration of the Recovery filter or filter fragments into the heart. The authors report a case of delayed intracardiac migration of a fractured wire from this filter and describe the clinical course of a patient in whom this complication was managed.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to survey current physicians in Kentucky to evaluate their management of patients with substance use disorder (SUD), with a focus on the identification of their referral methods for linkage to SUD treatment and recovery support services.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed through a developed survey that was administered by e-mail to all 12,152 in-state physicians licensed in Kentucky; 524 responded. Addiction specialists, emergency physicians, and psychiatrists were categorized separately; family medicine and internal medicine (FM/IM) physicians were combined into one category; all of the other specialties were grouped into an "Other" category.

High-strength carbon fibers were recovered by a new method, involving the decomposition of the thermosetting resin part of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) by heating it in a mixture of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and potassium hydroxide (KOH). Alkali molten hydroxide was prepared by heating the mixture of NaOH and KOH at various ratios (NaOH: KOH = 1:0, 3:1, 1:1, 1:3, 0:1) at 400C, and the CFRP was then heated with the aforementioned alkali molten hydroxide under a nitrogen atmosphere at 200-400C for 0-90 min. Subsequently, the CFRP was washed with distilled water and filtered to recover the carbon fibers, and its tensile strength was estimated.

Nanoplastics (NPs) are growing concerns for health and the environment, being widely distributed across marine, freshwater, air, and biological systems. Analyzing NPs in real environmental samples requires pretreatment, which has traditionally been complex and often leads to underestimation in actual samples, creating a gap between real-world conditions and research findings. In this study, we propose using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane as a direct Raman substrate for particles on a filter, achieving complete recovery during separation and concentration while simplifying the pretreatment stages.
