We report more than 1.1 Watt of idler power at 3373 nm in a singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (SRO), directly pumped by a single-frequency monolithic tapered diode laser. The SRO is based on a periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 crystal in a four mirror cavity and is excited by 8.05 W of 1062 nm radiation. The SRO pump power at threshold is 4 W. The internal slope-efficiency and conversion efficiency reach 89% and 44% respectively. The signal and idler waves are temperature tuned in the range of 1541 to 1600 nm and 3154 to 3415 nm respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest output obtained for a diode pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO), and the first time a SRO is directly pumped by a monolithic tapered diode laser.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the kinematic changes in the knee joint during walking in patients with isolated PCL-deficiency (PCLD) to determine the presence of walking-related joint instability (mechanical instability-abnormal displacement form structural damage). Additionally, the study seeks to provide biomechanical insights into the observed differences between subjective and objective assessments.
Methods: 35 healthy volunteers and 27 patients with isolated PCLD (both involved and uninvolved sides) were included in the study.

The Endolift® technique, introduced in 2005, gained popularity among medical and non-medical professionals as a non-surgical approach using subdermal laser devices. However, its widespread adoption lacked a thorough understanding of its physiological interaction, resulting in controversies over its effectiveness and safety. This study aimed to assess the evidence of Endolift® efficacy, parametrization, and safety by analyzing adverse events.

Background: Prematurity is linked to diverse and significant health outcomes, but a comprehensive understanding of its long-term multisystem impacts remains limited.
Methods: Retrospective longitudinal cohort study on 417 preterm children born between 2000 and 2015 explores the incidence, dynamics, and interrelationships of health conditions from infancy to adolescence. Data on 1818 diagnoses, categorised by birth weight (BW) and gestational age (GA) and documented according to ICD-10, were analysed using non-parametric tests and negative binomial regression models.
Terahertz (THz) parametric detection is a highly sensitive method that upconverts a THz wave into a near-infrared beam for detection. Lithium niobate has primarily been used as the nonlinear optical crystal in this approach. However, the frequency band with high parametric gain is limited, leading to increasing interest in other nonlinear optical crystals.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtoms in Rydberg states are an important building block for emerging quantum technologies. While excitation to Rydberg orbitals is typically achieved in more than tens of nanoseconds, the physical limit is in fact much faster, at the ten picoseconds level. Here, we tackle such ultrafast Rydberg excitation of a rubidium atom by designing a dedicated pulsed laser system generating 480 nm pulses of 10 ps duration.
