Objectives: To establish a method for simultaneous detection of HBV resistant mutations associated with three kinds of nucleoside analogues.
Methods: According to 981 HBV complete sequences in GenBank, two pairs of conserved primers labeled with digoxigenin were synthesized to amplify the region of HBV reverse transcriptase. To detect non-synonymous amino acid substitutions associated with lamivudine, adefovir and entecavir, 26 specific oligonucleotide probes covering ten different codon positions, I169T, V173L/G, L180M, A181T/V, T184G, S202I/G, M204V/I, Q215S, N236T and M250V/I/L were synthesized and immobilized on nylon membranes charged positively. The oligonucleotide probes immobilized on nylon membranes were then hybridized with PCR products labeled with digoxigenin to detect three drug-resistant mutations. In order to observe specificity and accuracy of probes, HBV wild-type, resistant reference strains and patients serums were assayed by reverse hybridization technique, respectively.
Results: The specific probes of 10 codon positions related to HBV wild-type and resistant reference strains, including I169T, V173L, L180M, A181T, T184G, S202I, M204V, Q215S, N236T, M250V, were distinguished effectively by reverse hybridization method. The results results of 37 samples applicated the method were in accordance with that Of DNA sequencing.
Conclusion: Reverse hybridization technique can be applied to detect HBV resistant mutations associated with Lamivudine, Adefovir and Entecavir rapidly and accurately.

Background: This study explores the cross-fertilization of transgenic tobacco plants to produce dual-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting Ebola virus-like particles and HER2 proteins. We generated F plants by hybridizing individual transgenic lines expressing the anti-HER2 breast cancer VHH mAb (HV) and the H-13F6 human anti-Ebola large single chain mAb (EL).
Objective: Hybridizing transgenic plants to express dual-antibodies between different structures VHH and LSCK indicate the potential of transgenic plants as a cost-effective and scalable production system for dual targeting mAbs.

Zika virus (ZIKV) causes a variety of peripheral and central nervous system complications leading to neurological symptoms such as limb weakness. We used a mouse model to identify candidate genes potentially involved in causation or recovery from ZIKV-induced acute flaccid paralysis. Using Zikv and Chat chromogenic and fluorescence in situ RNA hybridization, electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and ZIKV RT-qPCR, we determined that some paralyzed mice had infected motor neurons, but motor neurons are not reduced in number and the infection was not present in all paralyzed mice; hence infection of motor neurons were not strongly correlated with paralysis.

Biomagnetic fluid dynamics (BFD) is an emerging and promising field within fluid mechanics, focusing on the dynamics of bio-fluids like blood in the presence of magnetic fields. This research is crucial in the medical arena for applications such as medication delivery, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, prevention of excessive bleeding, and treatment of malignant tumors using magnetic particles. This study delves into the intricacies of blood flow induced by cilia, carrying trihybrid nanoparticles (gold, copper, and titania), within a catheterized arterial annulus under a robust magnetic field.

Aims: While cementless fixation offers potential advantages over cemented fixation, such as a shorter operating time, concerns linger over its higher cost and increased risk of periprosthetic fractures. If the risk of fracture can be forecasted, it would aid the shared decision-making process related to cementless stems. Our study aimed to develop and validate predictive models of periprosthetic femoral fracture (PPFF) necessitating revision and reoperation after elective total hip arthroplasty (THA).

Interface engineering and electronic modulation enable precise tuning of the electronic structure, thereby maximizing the efficacy of active sites and significantly enhancing the activity and stability of the electrocatalyst. Herein, a hybrid material composed of Ni-modified CoS nanoparticles ((Co, Ni)S) encapsulated within an N, S co-doped carbon matrix (SNC) and anchored onto S-doped carbonized wood fibers (SCWF) is synthesized using a straightforward simultaneous carbonization and sulfidation approach. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the highly electronegative Ni element promotes electron cloud migration from Co to Ni, shifting the d-band center of Co closer to the Fermi level.
