The distribution of surnames in for populations of the district rank in Kirov oblast has been used to calculate Barrai's parameters, which are the following: Ir, 0.0008-0.0208; H, 6.80-11.57; v, 0.003-0.058; alpha, 47.35-1191.39; R, 23.03-50.07. The results have been compared with data on the 1980s; no substantial changes in the studied parameters during a generation have been found.

The wild nature monument "184-year-old oak tree in the village of Irinovka" (Leningrad oblast, Russia), better known in local historical literature as "Irinovsky Oak," was officially opened in 2013. It is represented by a separate pedunculate oak tree (Quercus robur), planted in 1829 and preserved in satisfactory condition at 194 years of age. This paper presents data from a survey of the shoot system of the tree investigated.

This work presents the results of studying the molecular characteristics of parasitic tapeworms Echinococcus canadensis. The helminths were discovered during the autopsy of a wolf (Canis lupus Linnaeus, 1758) killed by hunters in the Kirov oblast in 2021. A molecular phylogenetic study was performed by analyzing the sequence of a fragment of the first subunit of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase gene (CoxI).

The paper presents the genetic characteristics of two strains of spring viraemia of carp virus (SVCV), Kirov/08 and Orenburg/14, isolated in the Kirov and Orenburg oblasts of the Russian Federation, respectively.
