Exploring the landscape of congenital and idiopathic neutropenia in Moroccan children: a comprehensive retrospective analysis.

Immunol Res

January 2025

Laboratory of Clinical Immunology, Infectiology, and Autoimmunity (LICIA), Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca, Hassan II University, Casablanca, Morocco.

Congenital neutropenia (CoN) is a heterogeneous group of inborn errors of immunity (IEI) characterized by recurrent infections and early onset of neutropenia (NP). This study aimed to investigate the demographic and clinical data of children with CoN and idiopathic neutropenia (IN) in Morocco. We performed a retrospective study of patients with CoN and analyzed the clinical and laboratory findings of patients with CoN and IN diagnosed between 1999 and 2018 in a clinical immunology unit of a large pediatric hospital.

Acute maternal hyperoxygenation to predict hypoxia and need for emergency intervention in fetuses with transposition of the great arteries: a pilot study.

January 2025

Department of Congenital Heart Disease, Evelina London Children's Hospital, Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Trust, Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7EH, UK; School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, King's College London, London, UK.

Background: Newborns with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) are at risk of severe hypoxia from inadequate atrial mixing, closure of the arterial duct and/or pulmonary hypertension (PPHN). Acute maternal hyperoxygenation (AMH) might assist in identifying at-risk fetuses. We report pulmonary vasoreactivity to AMH in TGA fetuses and its relationship to early postnatal hypoxia and requirement for emergency balloon atrial septostomy (e-BAS).

The Cayo Santiago rhesus macaque colony is a renowned primate population that has experienced significant natural and anthropogenic ecological variation in their 85-year history. Demographic and familial information is also tracked and collated for the majority of monkeys. Thus, the health history of rhesus macaques at Cayo Santiago should reflect the impacts of both environmental and genetic factors.

Background: Omphalocele-exstrophy-imperforate anus-spinal defects (OEIS) complex is a rare, life-threatening congenital malformation primarily treated with abdominogenital repair. The optimal indication and timing of neurosurgical interventions for the associated spinal cord lesions remains insufficiently studied. We reviewed spinal dysraphism in OEIS to evaluate the best timing for neurosurgical intervention.
