To investigate whether leaves of plane trees (Platanus orientalis) are damaged by traffic pollution, trees from a megacity (Mashhad, Iran) and a rural area were investigated. Soil and air from the urban centre showed enrichment of several toxic elements, but only lead was enriched in leaves. Leaf size and stomata density were lower at the urban site. At the urban site leaf surfaces were heavily loaded by dust particles but the stomata were not occluded; the cuticle was thinner; other anatomical properties were unaffected suggesting that plane trees can cope with traffic exhaust in megacities.

The insect fauna overwintering under the bark of tree trunks is very rarely studied. Thrips (Thysanoptera) associated with the plane tree ( x Mill. ex Münchh.

The dataset [1] hosts pedological info and images of the lands -locally known as - of the outcropping gypsiferous core of the Barbastro-Balaguer anticline (Fig. 1). It stands out in the landscape for the linear reliefs due to outcrops of dipping strata with differential resistance to erosion, and also because of its whitish color (Fig.

The increasing demand for hazelnut kernels is favoring an upsurge in hazelnut cultivation worldwide, but ongoing climate change threatens this crop, affecting yield decreases and subject to uncontrolled pathogen and parasite attacks. Technical advances in precision agriculture are expected to support farmers to more efficiently control the physio-pathological status of crops. Here, we report a straightforward approach to monitoring hazelnut trees in an open field, using aerial multispectral pictures taken by drones.

Urban vegetation provides many ecosystem services like heat island mitigation. However, urban trees are subjected to the stresses that they are meant to alleviate, with drought being a main constraint. We investigated the drought response strategy of plane trees (Platanus × hispanica), focusing on stomatal regulation and metabolic remodelling.

Huanglongbing (HLB), also known as citrus greening disease, is a devastating disease of citrus. However, there is no known cure so far. Recently, under Section 24(c) of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), a special local need label was approved that allows the trunk injection of antimicrobials such as oxytetracycline (OTC) for HLB management in Florida.
