A 1D coordination compound made of a photochromic dithienylethene linker and [Dy(Tp2-py)F]+ units (with Tp2-py = tris(3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolyl)hydroborate) and having tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate counterions is reported. Full photoconversion from the closed isomer to the open isomer of the dithienyethene within single crystals allow for monitoring of the transformation by photocrystallography. Magnetic slow relaxation as well as magnetic hysteresis are observed and can be both modulated upon light irradiation.

The cyclic triangular complex - silver (I) 4-nitro-3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)pyrazolate (Agpz) with super π-acidity shows great potential in adsorptive desulfurization (ADS) as a novel adsorbent, however, it fails to work well in the continue flow adsorption study. In order to improve its dynamic adsorption performance, a composite has been prepared by mixing Agpz and multilayer graphene (MG) in methanol. Based on the results of characterization by FT-IR, XPS, SEM, and so on, the optimal mass ratio of Agpz:MG in the synthesis is 0.

In this study, a novel imidazolium-based ionic liquid (IL) coating was developed for stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) using a sol-gel method. The effects of different counterions, conditioning temperatures and polymer compositions were investigated. The stir bar with bis((trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl) amide 1-butyl-3-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium showed good mechanical and thermal stability with high resistance to water solubilization.

This paper describes muon spin spectroscopy studies of 12-phosphatetraphene stabilized by a peri-trifluoromethyl group and a meso-aryl substituent. Even though the prepared solution in tetrahydrofuran (THF) was quite dilute (0.060 M) for transverse-field muon spin rotation (TF-µSR) measurements, the π-extended heavier congener of tetraphene presented a pair of signals due to a muoniated radical from which the muon hyperfine coupling constant (hfc) was determined.

The influence of aqueous solutions of 2-(tetrafluoro(trifluoromethyl)-λ-sulfanyl-ethan-1-ol (CFSF-ethanol) and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) on the secondary structure of melittin was studied using circular dichroism (CD) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. In water, melittin transitions into a random coil. However, upon addition of even as little as 1% by volume of CFSF-ethanol, the secondary structure of melittin stabilizes as a helix.
