Unlabelled: The commonly available and accurate platelet counts play an important role in the evaluation of haemorrhagic status and in assessing the need for platelet transfusions. We evaluated platelet counting performance by the Sysmex XT-2000i haematology analyser and by the Coulter EPICS XL cytometry using optical, impedance and immunological methods in trombocytopenic patients. Hematology analysers display the high precision and the accuracy of the measurement of the number of platelets in whole blood. However, the measurement of number of platelets can be disturbed by the presence of interference factors such as: microcytic erytrocytes, schizocytes, cryoglobulins, microplatelets and immunological clumps.
The Aim Of The Study: The comparison of impedance, optical and immunological enumeration methods of platelets by the Sysmex XT-2000i haematology analyser and by the Coulter EPICS XL cytometer.
Results: The platelet count of all considered methods showed good correlation with the cytometric method.
Conclusions: Only cytometric method with using anti-CD41 monoclonal antibody allowed to verify the results of enumeration methods of platelets.

Objective: To compare the effects of titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) and leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) on osteoblasts.
Methods: Venous blood samples were collected from ten volunteer patients to obtain T-PRF and L-PRF. The T-PRF group was labelled as Group T, the L-PRF group as Group L, and the control group, which includes only osteoblasts, was Group K.

Background: Alveolar osteitis is a type of small-scale osteomyelitis of the alveolar bone that occurs after tooth extraction, the etiology of which remains unknown, and alternative methods are being investigated for its treatment. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF), photobiomodulation (PBM), and Alveogyl (butamben, idoform, eugenol), which have shown success in the treatment of alveolar osteitis, with that of pentoxifylline (PTX) to determine whether PTX could be an alternative treatment for alveolar osteitis.
Methods: This study included 80 healthy volunteers diagnosed with alveolar osteitis in the extraction sockets of their mandibular first, second, and third molars.

Objective: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a highly lethal hepatobiliary malignancy with an increasing incidence annually. Extensive research has elucidated the existence of a reciprocal interaction between platelets and cancer cells, which promotes tumor proliferation and metastasis. This study aims to investigate the function and mechanism underlying iCCA progression driven by the interplay between platelets and tumor cells, aiming to provide novel therapeutic strategies for iCCA.

Background: Allogeneic transplant for patients with transfusion-dependent thalassemia is challenging once there has been iron overload and chronic transfusion support.
Objective(s): A transplant strategy that reduced intensity of the preparative regimen and tailored immunosuppression to both support donor engraftment and prevent GVHD was developed for this population. The combination of a pretransplant immunosuppression phase with reduced dosing of fludarabine/prednisone, treosulfan-based preparative regimen with reduced cyclophosphamide dosing, and introduction of a calcineurin/methotrexate-free GVHD prophylaxis/engraftment supporting regimen with abatacept/sirolimus/ATG was tested.

Background: Reducing inflammation is central to the management of RA. However, commonly used markers such as CRP and ESR, along with the DAS-28 score, have shown limitations. Hematologic indices, such as platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR), and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), show potential as reliable indicators of inflammation in RA.
