Isostructural single-chain magnet (SCM) and single-molecule magnets (SMM) with formulas [Mn(6)X(2)(salox)(6)O(2)(N(3))(8)] (X = Mn(II) (1), Cd(II) (2); H(2)salox = salicylaldoxime) have been synthesized and magnetically characterized. Complexes 1 and 2 possess significantly different magnetization reversal barriers of U(eff) = 100.3 and 57.0 K, in spite of comparable uniaxial anisotropies (D) and ground state spin values (S). These observations are indicative of the intrinsic spin dynamics in these structurally related yet magnetically distinct SCM/SMM systems.

The synthesis, single-crystal structures and magnetic properties of two new double-zigzag-chain cyano-bridged heterobimetallic {[M(Py-NOH)][Fe(Tp*)(CN)]}·HO ([FeIII2M]) (Py-NOH = 4-pyridinealdoxime, Tp* = tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)borohydride, M = Ni (1), Fe (2)) compounds are reported. The crystal structures of both compounds were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural, with the crystal structure comprising neutral double-zigzag (4,2-ribbon-like) bimetallic chains.

Hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites have emerged as promising materials for various applications, including solar cells, light-emitting devices, dielectrics, and optical switches. In this work, we report the synthesis, crystal structures, and linear and nonlinear optical as well as dielectric properties of three imidazolium lead bromides, IMPbBr, IMPbBr, and IMPbBr (IM = imidazolium). We show that these compounds exhibit three distinct structure types.

Achieving magnetic bistability with large thermal hysteresis is still a formidable challenge in material science. Here we synthesize a series of isostructural chain complexes using 9,10-anthracene dicarboxylic acid as a photoactive component. The electron transfer photochromic Mn and Zn compounds with photogenerated diradicals are confirmed by structures, optical spectra, magnetic analyses, and density functional theory calculations.

A caesium lutetium(III) silicate, CsLuSiO, was synthesized by heating a pelletized mixture of CsCO, LuO and SiO at 1273 K. Single crystals of the title compound were grown in a melted area of the pellet. CsLuSiO is a single-chain silicate (ortho-rhom-bic space group 2) with a chain periodicity of six and is isostructural with Cs GeO ( = Pr, Nd and Sm-Yb).

Although compounds of the formula AMoOF (A = K, Rb, Cs, NH, Tl) have been known for decades, crystal structures have only been reported for CsMoOF and NHMoOF. The three compounds (Rb/NH/Tl)MoOF are isostructural and crystallize in the centrosymmetric space group 2 (No. 15).
