Should we implement biomedical interventions like psychopharmaceuticals or brain stimulation that aim to improve morality in society? Since 2008, moral bioenhancement (MBE) has received considerable attention in bioethics, generating wide scholarly disagreement. However, reviews on the subject are few and either outdated or not structured in method. This paper addresses this gap by providing a scoping review of the last 15 years of debate on MBE (from 2008 to 2022).

Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is one of the most commonly used food additives, known for its adverse health effects. Alogliptin (ALO) is a highly selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor, but its role in male reproductive function remains debated. The study was designed to evaluate and compare the potential of ALO in mitigating MSG-induced testicular toxicity in juvenile and adult male rats.

No Association of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome with Pancreatic Cancer: A Mendelian Randomization Study.

October 2024

Institute of Women, Children and Reproductive Health, Shandong University, Jinan, 250012 Shandong China.

Unlabelled: Recently, there has been a debate regarding the association between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and pancreatic cancer (PC). In order to examine the causal relationship between PCOS and PC, we conducted a Mendelian randomization study, which utilized 12 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identified from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) meta-analysis that included 10,074 PCOS cases and 103,164 controls of European ancestry as instrumental variables (IVs). The outcome data were obtained from the FinnGen database (including 605 cases and 218,187 controls).

Background: As the population ages, hypertension has become the leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and premature deaths worldwide. Accurate monitoring of CVD risks and planning community-based public health interventions require reliable estimates of hypertension prevalence and management. While the validity of self-reporting in assessing hypertension prevalence has been debated, the concordance between self-reports and clinical measurements of hypertension control remains underexplored, particularly in large, community-based older populations.

This paper presents a comprehensive survey of network analysis research on the film industry, aiming to evaluate its emergence as a field of study and identify potential areas for further research. Many foundational network studies made use of the abundant data from the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) to test network methodologies. This survey focuses more specifically on examining research that employs network analysis to evaluate the film industry itself, revealing the social and business relationships involved in film production, distribution, and consumption.
