A passive optical element that is a simple, inexpensive, and effective way for producing laser speckle is described. The optical element, a random phase plate, was developed in our laboratory. The statistics of the speckle pattern it produces were measured and are discussed in this paper. The phase plate was used to produce a speckled beam using a 5-mW cw He-Ne laser with a Gaussian beam profile and using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser with a nonuniform intensity profile for which the mean intensity was 10(9) W/cm(2).

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of extraocular muscle recession performed as part of strabismus surgery on posterior retinal and choroidal blood flow.

Methods: A single-center prospective study was conducted on patients who underwent strabismus surgery. Optical coherence tomography, optical coherence tomography angiography, and laser speckle flowgraphy of the macula were performed before surgery and at one week, one month, and four months after surgery.

With rapid climate change, it has been increasingly difficult to grow different crops, and as an alternative method, artificial cultivation in controlled environments has evolved into a new sustainable agriculture practice. However, the cost of having a controlled environment has become a major issue, and investigations have been conducted to develop cost-saving and efficient cultivation techniques. One research focus is on the utilization of stimulating appropriate photoreceptors for a certain time by far-red (FR) light to influence plant development.

Investigation of a dog's brain activity related to their outstanding olfactory capabilities has been a topic of interest among researchers. For this specific study, we identified three areas of the brain that have been shown in previous studies to be relevant during the process of smell discrimination in dogs: the olfactory bulb, hippocampus, and amygdala. We set up a detection structure system based on laser and a camera to capture speckle patterns on the three regions in four dog breeds for smell stimuli: garlic, menthol, alcohol, and marijuana.

Background: Our current study builds on our recent report that showed Palmitate aggravates ischemic endothelial (EC) dysfunction and aims to determine whether Palmitate is a critical determinant of PAD severity. In contrast to Palmitate, we studied the role of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in regulating ischemic revascularization in PAD.

Methods: Femoral artery ligation and resection was used as preclinical-PAD model.

Ultrasound neuromodulation is a rapidly advancing, non-invasive technique with significant therapeutic potential for treating various neurological disorders. Although extensive in vitro and in vivo studies have provided valuable insights into its modulatory effects, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood, limiting its clinical translation. Optical neuroimaging techniques can help investigate these mechanisms; however, the opacity and bulkiness of conventional ultrasound transducers pose significant challenges for their integration with in vivo ultrasound neuromodulation studies, particularly in awake rodents.
