The following manuscript details our initial attempt at developing universal post-mortem interval formulas describing human decomposition. These formulas are empirically derived from data collected over the last 20 years from the University of Tennessee's Anthropology Research Facility, in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. Two formulas were developed (surface decomposition and burial decomposition) based on temperature, moisture, and the partial pressure of oxygen, as being three of the four primary drivers for human decomposition. It is hoped that worldwide application of these formulas to environments and situations not readily studied in Tennessee will result in interdisciplinary cooperation between scientists and law enforcement personnel that will allow for future refinements of these models leading to increased accuracy.

Intense research efforts on transition metal chalcogenides (oxides and sulfides), pnictides (nitrides and phosphides), and fluorides have demonstrated the complex, intertwined effects of structural and chemical changes on their electrochemical response leading to intercalation, conversion, or displacement reactions when reacting with lithium. Prior efforts largely left halides unexplored due to their heightened solubility in classical liquid electrolytes. In this work, we employ superconcentrated electrolytes to demonstrate the composition- and structure-dependent electrochemical reactivity of AMCl compounds (A = Li or Na and M = Cr, Mn, Fe, and Co).

Volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD) is commonly assessed using QCT. Although standard vBMD calculation methods require phantom rods that may not be available, internal-reference phantomless (IPL) and direct measurements of Hounsfield units (HU) can be used to calculate vBMD in their absence. Yet, neither approach has been systemically assessed across skeletal sites, and HU need further validation as a vBMD proxy.

Objectives: to describe the results of a pilot population-based perinatal mortality surveillance system, with regards to stillbirths; to study maternal, obstetric, and foetal characteristics, evaluating risk factors and understanding causes.
Design: a cross-sectional study was conducted on incident cases of stillbirths collected by the surveillance system from July 2017 to June 2019 in three Italian Regions (Lombardy, Tuscany, and Sicily).
Setting And Participants: data on stillbirths, resulting from the in-hospital multidisciplinary audits, organised using the Significant Event Audit methodology, were analysed.
