The degree of interpenetration at the interface between colloidal quantum dots (QDs) and organic semiconductor molecules commonly employed in hybrid light-emitting devices (QD-LEDs) has been examined using tapping-mode atomic force microscopy. Both phase separation-driven and Contact Printing-enabled QD/semiconductor heterojunction fabrication methodologies lead to significant QD embedment in the underlying organic film with the greatest degree of QD penetration observed for QD monolayers that have been contact printed. The relative performance of QD-LEDs fabricated via three different methods using the same materials set has also been investigated.

Structural and electrochemical investigation of P2-NaFeMnO high-performance sodium ion cathode materials.

J Colloid Interface Sci

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Inner Mongolia University of Science & Technology, Baotou, Inner Mongolia 014010, China. Electronic address:

Fe/Mn-based metal oxides have attracted considerable attention as cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries owing to their low cost and high specific capacity. However, the relatively large ionic radius of the sodium ion (1.02 Å) results in inefficient diffusion kinetics, resulting in reduced battery performance.

Versatile and robust transparent polymer film with preprogrammed diffusion and bidirectional irreversible fluorescence for sequential information encryption.

J Colloid Interface Sci

The materials currently available for information encryption often suffer from low transparency, poor mechanical strength, and a reliance on single decryption conditions, which limits their security and hence application potential. To address these challenges, we developed a transparent, mechanically robust polymer film inspired by the camouflage and communication strategies of the glass squid. In this film, 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid (DHTA) and zinc acetate dihydrate are integrated into a crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol-glutaraldehyde (PVA-GA) matrix to achieve bidirectional irreversible fluorescence and sequential decryption.

Catalytic effects of multiple heterointerfaces on the hydrogen storage properties of magnesium hydride.

J Colloid Interface Sci

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Silicon and Advanced Semiconductor Materials and School of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310058, China. Electronic address:

The application and further industrialization of magnesium hydride (MgH) are restricted by its intrinsically high de-hydrogenation temperature and dragged kinetics though it is believed as one of the most encouraging solid-state hydrogen storage materials with considerable capacity. Herein, a bimetallic layered MXene VNbC, which was mixed with MgH by high energy ball milling, was obtained by etching compact layered MAX VNbAlC with HF. The beginning de-hydrogenation temperature of the as-prepared MgH blended with 10 wt% VNbC (denoted as MgH-10 VNbC) composites was excitingly 170 °C and it exhibited faster kinetics and excellent cycling stability.

Construction of layered micro-/nano-structured MoNiCo-S cathode and broad bean shell derived carbon anode for hybrid supercapacitors.

Transition metal sulfides, despite their abundance of electrochemically active sites, often demonstrate inadequate rate performance and mechanical stability. The development of a multi-dimensional hierarchical architecture has proven to be an effective approach to address the limitations associated with sulfides. In the present study, MoNiCo-S nanorods featuring hierarchical micro-/nano-structures were successfully synthesized through a straightforward methodology that involved "in situ growth-etching-vulcanization".
