Hydrogen peroxide, phenols, amines, aldehydes, and other substances can easily damage intracellular biomacromolecules. Although natural peroxidases can convert these harmful substances into benign ones, the high costs, poor stabilities, and stringent application conditions associated with these enzymes necessitate the exploration of artificial mimics. In this study, Ce-doped MIL-101(Fe)-NH and MIL-101(Fe)-NO were synthesized with varying compositions a solvothermal method.

Background: Aldehyde is a kind of important environmental pollutant, which has been demonstrated to be associated with increased risks of various chronic diseases with the economic and social development. However, the effects of aldehydes on serum uric acid (SUA) and hyperuricemia remained inexplicit, and the potential mediating pathways for this relationship needed to be addressed.

Methods: This study investigated the associations of individual and mixed aldehydes with SUA and hyperuricemia among 1588 U S.

Background: This case report describes a unique presentation of sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase insufficiency syndrome (SPLIS) caused by a rare SGPL1 variant, highlighting the diagnostic and management challenges associated with this condition.

Case Presentation: A 2-year-old Iranian female presented with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (NS), primary adrenal insufficiency (AI), growth delay, seizures, and hyperpigmentation. Laboratory evaluation revealed hypoalbuminemia, significant proteinuria, hyperkalemia, and elevated adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) levels.

Background: Tubular injury triggered by hyperglycemia is an important pathological characteristic in diabetic nephropathy (DN). Accumulated advanced glycation end products and their precursor methylglyoxal (MGO), contribute to the development of DN. Carnosine has been shown to prevent the development of DN but the underlying mechanism still needs to be studied in depth.
