AI Article Synopsis

  • The study investigates the effectiveness of digital subtraction techniques in imaging head and neck vessels using 64-slice spiral CTA.
  • Five imaging methods were compared in terms of image quality and time efficiency, with subtraction methods showing superior results in both aspects.
  • Results indicate that digital subtraction methods provide higher image quality, shorter imaging times, and better sensitivity for detecting aneurysms and stenosis compared to non-subtraction methods.

Article Abstract

Objective: To explore the imaging value of digital subtraction technique on head and neck with 64-slice spiral CTA.

Methods: 958 patients of head and neck vessels were examined with the direct method, Surestart law, low-dose tes methods, Surestart subtraction method, low-dose test subtraction method by CTA, the former three kinds are non-subtraction method, the latter two kinds are subtraction method, a comparative analysis on the five methods from the image quality, imaging time, imaging values, seek for the CTA method with optimal image quality, the shortest imaging time, the best value.

Results: The image quality with the direct method (2.82 points), Surestart law (3.25 points), low-dose test method (3.33 points), Surestart subtraction method (4.10 points), low-dose test subtraction method (4.18 points), gradually changed well in order, the image quality of subtraction method is better than non-subtraction method; imaging time with direct method (40.26 minutes), Surestart law (35.06 minutes), small dose test method (33.49 minutes), Surestart subtraction method (17.52 minutes), small dose test subtraction method (15.32 minutes), gradually become shorter in order, the imaging time of subtraction method is shorter than the non-subtraction method; Evaluation on the sensitivity of aneurysms and stenosis, subtraction method is more better than the non-subtraction method, the little narrow extent and the smaller aneurysm, the subtraction method is more better than non-subtraction method.

Conclusion: The digital subtraction method is an ideal head and neck imaging method with 64-slice spiral CTA.

Purpose: To explore the information in routine digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and evaluate deep learning algorithms for automated identification of anatomic location in DSA sequences.

Methods: DSA of the abdominal aorta, celiac, superior mesenteric, inferior mesenteric, and bilateral external iliac arteries was labeled with the anatomic location from retrospectively collected endovascular procedures performed between 2010 and 2020 at a tertiary care medical center. "Key" images within each sequence demonstrating the parent vessel and the first bifurcation were additionally labeled.

Objective: To investigate the value of routine T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) sequences in locating the fistula level of spinal arteriovenous fistula (SAVF).

Methods: Retrospectively analyzed the radiological findings of patients with SAVF diagnosed by surgery from May 2018 to September 2024. All patients completed spinal CE-MRA and routine T2-weighted MRI.

Background: The human brain integrity relies on the synergistic interplay between neural activity and supporting vascular and metabolic processes throughout life. This relationship, ruled by allostatic mechanisms, regulates brain architecture and activity. White matter hyperintensities (WMH) serve as indicators of the vascular impact on brain structure.

Background: Accelerated epigenetic ageing has been associated with various age‐related health outcomes, but its relevance for dementia risk prediction is unclear. We investigated whether accelerated midlife epigenetic age associates with poor later‐life brain health.

Methods: Participants were 230 individuals from Insight 46, drawn from the 1946 British Birth Cohort, a population‐based study of individuals born in the first week of March 1946.
