However, systemic diseases and their associated medications also play a role, as drug interactions can intensify the effects of certain medications. Objective To assess whether polypharmacy is associated with the co-occurrence of aqueous-deficient dry eye (ADDE) and hyposalivation in adults aged 50 years and older without SS.

Background and objective Retrobulbar block is commonly used for providing effective anesthesia and akinesia for ophthalmic surgery. It can, however, lead to sight-threatening retrobulbar hemorrhage in very rare cases. The aim of this study was to evaluate retrobulbar block quality, to determine the prevalence of retrobulbar hemorrhage associated with these blocks, and to assess whether the use of antithrombotic agents in patients undergoing retrobulbar block for ophthalmic surgery was associated with retrobulbar hemorrhage.

Purpose: Central retinal artery occlusion, also known as an eye stroke, results in visual impairment and functional challenges. Our study objectives were to identify meaningful measures and factors that indicate or enable successful recovery after eye stroke and to determine optimal processes to support research, including exploring barriers and facilitators to successful research participation.
Methods: We used qualitative methods including the 5Ts Framework (target population identification, team composition, time considerations, tips to accommodate older adults, tools for inclusive enrollment of older adults) to provide a guide to the development of the semi-structured interviews and to help facilitate the research process such as the set-up of interviews.
