In 31 women with a singleton pregnancy, abdominal duplex doppler examinations were performed at W16-W17, W26 (+/- 2 weeks) and W34 (+/- 2 weeks) in order to study the flow velocity wave (FVW) indices in the early second trimester and their predictive value for fetal outcome. 24 women with a normal pregnancy outcome were considered as the reference group. In the early second trimester, end-diastolic block occurs frequently at the 150 Hz thump filter setting (15/24 in the fetal descending aorta, 19/24 in the umbilical artery). At the 50 Hz filter setting, end diastolic block appeared in 1/24 cases in the aorta and in 2/24 cases in the umbilical artery. The finding did not persist throughout pregnancy. The flow-velocity indices in the early second trimester in the small-for-dates were comparable to the normal group. We conclude that high peripheral resistance is a common finding in the fetal circulation in early pregnancy. It is not predictive of subsequent growth retardation.

CAR-T cell therapies have risen to prominence over the last decade, and their indications are increasing with several products approved as early as second line in Large B Cell non-Hodgkin Lymphomas. Their major toxicities are the cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and the Immune-effector Cell Associated Neurotoxicity Syndrome (ICANS). These entities involve a hyperinflammatory cascade which is amplified through the mononuclear phagocytic system (MPS).

Cervical cytology is a vital screening tool used to detect precancerous and cancerous cells in the cervix. The procedure is crucial in preventing cervical cancer by enabling the early detection and treatment of abnormal cells. In the context of pregnancy, cytology remains an essential component of prenatal care.

Background: The vast majority of men with CF (mwCF) are infertile. Improvements in assisted reproductive technology (ART) have made it possible for these patients to become biological fathers.
Methods: Data were examined for all male CF patients attending a large adult CF center over a 23-year period.
Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a gut-brain axis disorder characterized by postprandial fullness, early satiety, bloating and/or epigastric pain, which are presumed to originate in the gastroduodenal tract. While the international recommendations in the Rome IV consensus require endoscopy to rule out an organic condition before establishing a diagnosis of FD, international guidelines recommend that, in the absence of risk factors, patient management be initiated at the primary care level by establishing Helicobacter pylori infection status, with eradication when positive, followed by empiric therapy with proton pump inhibitors and/or prokinetics, and that endoscopy be reserved for patients refractory to said measures. Second-line therapy includes neuromodulating agents, among which tricyclic antidepressants and atypical antipsychotics such as levosulpiride stand out.

Background: Early-onset ischemic heart disease (IHD) is a growing burden associated with high disability and death.
Objectives: This study aimed to estimate the burden of incidence, prevalence, and disability-adjusted life years (DALY) of early-onset IHD from 1990 to 2019.
Methods: Data on the burden of early-onset IHD (men<55 years, women<65 years), including prevalence, incidence, DALY, and deaths, were collected from the Global Burden of Disease study for 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2019.
