The search for active semiconductor photocatalysts that directly split water under visible-light irradiation remains one of the most challenging tasks for solar-energy utilization. Over the past 30 years, the search for such materials has focused mainly on metal-ion substitution as in In(1-x)Ni(x)TaO(4) and (V-,Fe- or Mn-)TiO(2) (refs 7,8), non-metal-ion substitution as in TiO(2-x)N(x) and Sm(2)Ti(2)O(5)S(2) (refs 9,10) or solid-solution fabrication as in (Ga(1-x)Zn(x))(N(1-x)O(x)) and ZnS-CuInS(2)-AgInS(2) (refs 11,12). Here we report a new use of Ag(3)PO(4) semiconductor, which can harness visible light to oxidize water as well as decompose organic contaminants in aqueous solution. This suggests its potential as a photofunctional material for both water splitting and waste-water cleaning. More generally, it suggests the incorporation of p block elements and alkali or alkaline earth ions into a simple oxide of narrow bandgap as a strategy to design new photoelectrodes or photocatalysts.

One of the biggest issues of wide bandgap semiconductor use in photocatalytic wastewater treatment is the reusability of the material and avoiding the contamination of water with the material itself. In this paper, we report on a novel TiO aeromaterial (aero-TiO) consisting of hollow microtetrapods with ZnTiO inclusions. Atomic layer deposition has been used to obtain particles of unique shape allowing them to interlock thereby protecting the photocatalyst from erosion and damage when incorporated in active filters.

Visible light photocatalysts hold great promise for water purification, yet research on highly efficient, non-toxic photocatalysts is limited. This study synthesized novel g-CN/AlOOH photocatalytic nanocomposites via thermal condensation, enhancing adsorption and visible light degradation by 36-fold and 11-fold, respectively, compared to g-CN alone. The nanocomposites achieved a 98% removal rate of methyl orange under xenon lamp irradiation (>400 nm) for 1 hour.

Background: The spleen, as the body's largest peripheral immune organ and a crucial source of circulating monocytes, plays a significant role in the acute inflammatory response of spleen-derived macrophages to diseases. Therefore, studying the impact and mechanism of X-ray irradiation on spleen-derived macrophages' inflammatory responses is of great importance.
Method: Extracted and identified mice splenic macrophages were divided into four groups: control group, LPS and ATP co-stimulated non-irradiated group, LPS and ATP co-stimulated group irradiated after 6h, and LPS and ATP co-stimulated group irradiated after 12h.

Tumor heterogeneity, immune-suppressive microenvironment and the precise killing of tumor cells by drugs are important factors affecting tumor treatment. In this study, we developed environment-responsive drug delivery system (FM@IQ/PST&ZIF-8/DOX) based on ZIF-8 for tumor photothermal/immunotherapy/chemotherapy synergistic therapy. The prepared FM@IQ/PST&ZIF-8/DOX nanoplatfrom not only has highly drug loading capacity for chemotherapeutic drug-doxorubicin, but also erythrocyte membrance modified on their surface can endow their immunity-escaping property and prolong their blood circulation time.
