The surgical approach-of-choice for the management of popliteal artery aneurysms (PAAs) remains controversial. We compared the results of the medial (MA) and dorsal (posterior) surgical approach (DA). Fifty patients (44 males/6 females; median age [range]: 59 [49-84] years) treated for 58 atherosclerotic PAAs were studied (MA: 29 PAAs; DA: 29 PAAs). The 3-year graft patency rates were higher after DA compared with MA (76% vs 52%, respectively), but the difference was not significant (P = .056). There were no differences between the 2 approaches in amputation, restenosis, reoperation, and wound infection rates. Dorsal approach and the MA may be alternative approaches with similar long-term results. Due to the controversial results reported so far, a meta-analysis may be necessary to establish the surgical approach-of-choice. Future studies should take into account additional factors, other than the surgical technique, when assessing outcome (eg, preoperative statin use, age, and emergency vs routine surgery).

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the impact of anterior hood-sparing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) with posterior-anterior reconstruction in a single-surgeon series by analysing oncological and functional continence outcomes.
Patients And Methods: We carried out a cohort comparison study of a prospectively collected single-surgeon series. The surgeon was an 'in-training' fellowship trained surgeon in their first 2 years of independent practice.

This study investigates post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) by utilizing spectral dynamic causal modeling (spDCM) to examine changes in effective connectivity (EC) within the default mode, executive control, dorsal attention, and salience networks. Forty-one PSCI patients and 41 demographically matched healthy controls underwent 3D-T1WI and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging on a 3.0T MRI.

During the trunk to tail transition the mammalian embryo builds the outlets for the intestinal and urogenital tracts, lays down the primordia for the hindlimb and external genitalia, and switches from the epiblast/primitive streak (PS) to the tail bud as the driver of axial extension. Genetic and molecular data indicate that Tgfbr1 is a key regulator of the trunk to tail transition. Tgfbr1 has been shown to control the switch of the neuromesodermal competent cells from the epiblast to the chordoneural hinge to generate the tail bud.

The cystic artery is a critical anatomical landmark in both laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy. This report presents a unique case involving two rare anatomical variations: double cystic arteries, along with a superficial branch originating from the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) - a previously unreported combination with significant clinical and surgical implications. Unlike earlier studies, this research provides detailed anatomical and embryological insights supported by high-quality imaging and illustrations to guide surgeons in recognizing and managing this novel variation.

Purpose: To investigate the technique for dorsal median sulcus (DMS) mapping and assess its application value in preserving dorsal columnn (DC) function during intramedullary space occupying surgery based on a single-center experience.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 41 cases of intramedullary spinal cord tumor admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University from March 2017 to August 2023. All included cases underwent intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring, and were divided into a study group (n = 18) and a control group (n = 23), based on whether DMS mapping technique was utilized.
