The packing of electronic molecules into planar structures and an ensured pi-pi interaction within the plane are preferred for efficient organic transistors. Thin films of organic electronics are exemplar, but the widely adopted molecular design and associated fabrication lead to limited ordering in multistack construction motifs. Here we demonstrate self-assembled nanolayers of organic molecules having potential electronic utility using an amphiphilic silane as a building block. Unlike a cross-linked (tetrahedral) configuration found in conventional siloxane networks, a linear polymer chain is produced following silane polycondensation. As a result, hydrophobic branches plus a noncovalent pi-pi interlocking between the molecules promote planar packing and continuous stacking along the surface normal. In contrast to conventional pi-pi stacking or hydrogen bonding pathways in a fibrous construct, multistacked nanolayers with coexisting pi-pi and herringbone interlocking can provide unmatched properties and processing convenience in molecular electronics.

The formation of polymeric self-organizing organosilicon surface nanolayers on copper occuring as a result of modification of the metal surface with organosilane-based formulations has been studied. The anticorrosive effect of such surface layers in corrosive chloride-containing electrolytes as well as in artificial and natural atmospheres has been studied in detail. It has been found that the maximum protective effect is observed at a thickness of 3.

The commercialization of 3D heterogeneous integration through hybrid bonding has accelerated, and accordingly, Cu-polymer bonding has gained significant attention as a means of overcoming the limitations of conventional Cu-SiO hybrid bonding, offering high compatibility with other fabrication processes. Polymers offer robust bonding strength and a low dielectric constant, enabling high-speed signal transmission with high reliability, but suffer from low thermomechanical stability. Thermomechanical stability of polymers was not achieved previously because of thermal degradation and unstable anchoring.

The process of metal dissolution under a delaminated insulating polymer coating (underfilm dissolution) has been studied. For this purpose, we used an experimental setup that simulates the process of corrosion of underground metal structures in the presence of through defects in the polymer coating and/or extended areas of peeling of the polymer coating from the metal (loss of adhesion)-subfilm cavities partially or completely filled with electrolyte. In particular, the distribution of the protective current under a peeled polymer coating was studied, and a sharp decrease in the value of the protective current was shown at a distance of 1-3 cm from the edge of the defect with a gap between the metal and the coating of 1-6 mm.

In this work, a simple and cost-effective method was proposed and developed to prepare a novel multilayer-structured Kevlar®@nickel-phosphorus-boron@copper@copper stearate (Kevlar®@Ni-P-B@Cu@CS) composite fabric with high conductivity, high flexibility, high hydrophobicity, and high durability to effectively shield electromagnetic interference (EMI). In this method, an amorphous Ni-P-B alloy nanolayer was initially deposited onto a Kevlar® fabric electroless plating. Afterward, a crystalline Cu nanolayer was deposited as the second layer electroplating.

The adsorption of vinyltrimethoxysilane (VS) on the surface of sputtered (by thermal spraying in vacuum) zinc has been investigated. The adsorption isotherms of VC on zinc from an aqueous solution were obtain. In order to determine the adsorption characteristics of VS molecules and to calculate the heats of adsorption, the obtained adsorption isotherms were mathematically processed in terms of the well-known adsorption approaches (approximations, adsorption isotherms).
