Ligand engineering boosts catalase-like activity of gold nanoclusters for cascade reactions combined with glucose oxidase in ZIF-8 matrix.

Anal Chim Acta

February 2025

Tianjian Laboratory of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, Institute of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, Henan International Joint Laboratory of Tumor Theranostic Cluster Materials, Henan Key Laboratory of Crystalline Molecular Functional Materials, College of Chemistry, Zhengzhou University, 450001, Zhengzhou, China. Electronic address:

Background: Integrating natural enzymes and nanomaterials exhibiting tailored enzyme-like activities is an effective strategy for the application of cascade reactions. It is essential to develop a highly efficient and robust glucose oxidase-catalase (GOx-CAT) cascade system featuring controllable enzyme activity, a reliable supply of oxygen, and improved stability for glucose depletion in cancer starvation therapy. However, the ambiguous relationship between structure and performance, and the difficulty in controlling enzyme-mimic activity, significantly hinder their broader application.

Evaluating climate-related financial policies' impact on decarbonization with machine learning methods.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Joint Lab Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Osnabrück University, 49074, Osnabrück, Germany.

This study examines how Climate-Related Financial Policies (CRFPs) support decarbonization and renewable energy transitions across 87 countries from 2000 to 2023. Using the Policy Sequencing Score (PSS) and a bindingness-weighted adoption indicator, it explores the relationships between CRFPs, CO2 emissions, and Renewable Energy Production (REP) across diverse economic and institutional contexts. Findings reveal significant variation in outcomes.

How to diagnose glaucoma in myopic eyes by detecting structural changes?

Asia Pac J Ophthalmol (Phila)

January 2025

Department of Ophthalmology, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Myopia is rapidly escalating globally, especially in East and Southeast Asia, where its prevalence among younger populations reaches alarming levels of 80 to 90%. This surge contributes to a myopia epidemic linked to several ocular complications, including glaucoma. As myopic individuals age, the risk of developing glaucoma increases, and an additional concern arises from the growing frequency of refractive surgeries among younger individuals, making precise optic nerve assessments critical before surgery.
