We developed a Michelson-type cavity to achieve coherent combining of two quantum-cascade lasers, emitting at around 4.5microm. We report a cw combining efficiency of 85% (up to 91% near threshold) with good beam quality (M(2)<1.4). Despite the interferometric nature of the coupling mechanism, this type of cavity can withstand disturbance from the laboratory environment without significant power fluctuations. Finally, the spectral behavior and the output power dependence on current are explored.

Objectives: Our study aimed to compare signal characteristics of subdural electrodes (SDE) and depth stereo EEG placed within a 5-mm vicinity in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. We report how electrode design and placement collectively affect signal content from a shared source between these electrode types.
Methods: In subjects undergoing invasive intracranial EEG evaluation at a surgical epilepsy center from 2012 to 2018, stereo EEG and SDE electrode contacts placed within a 5-mm vicinity were identified.

Introduction: We aimed to explore the difference in choroidal vascular parameters using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) compared to controls. We also explored the ability of the choroidal parameters to reflect elevated intracranial pressure (ICP) in patients with IIH.
Methods: This observational study recruited patients diagnosed with IIH and healthy controls.
Background: Sleep disturbances are common in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and occur at early stages. Hyperexcitability also arises during sleep and can lead to epileptiform activity and seizures that impact memory consolidation. The underlying mechanisms of sleep disturbances and hyperexcitability in AD pathology remain unclear but are likely associated with changes in brain networks and altered functional connectivity (FC).

With the vigorous development of maritime trade, the frequency band from 100 to 1500 Hz of shallow-sea ambient noise is not only affected by surface wind-induced noise but also the contribution of ship noise. Shallow-sea ambient noise can be described by a linear combination of surface wind-induced noise sources and ship noise sources. By using the correspondence between the real part of the vertical coherence and vertical energy flux, this work establishes a combined noise source model based on vertical coherence.

Background: Research shows that structural retinal changes, measured via spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), are sensitive diagnostic biomarkers in AD. Our recent work aims to validate retinal biomarkers as risk biomarkers in preclinical AD. We compared retinal layer thickness to plasma ptau217 (a valid measure of Aβ pathophysiology in preclinical AD) to determine the predictive value of structural retinal changes in preclinical AD.
