The cardiovascular system is a unified, dynamic, constantly responding system. Adjustments are made in response to local metabolic factors, systemic physiologic factors, or peripheral and central nervous system factors. This article focuses on the interactions of the cardiovascular system with the peripheral and central nervous system. Since activation of the sympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system appears to play an important role in cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology, a more detailed description of this system appears. Using Engel's Biopsychosocial Model of Health and Disease, the impact of the mind and emotions on cardiovascular behavior and health is emphasized. Several key nursing interventions that have been shown to impact favorably on mind-heart interactions are highlighted.

Background: Neurobrucellosis, a serious central nervous system infection caused by Brucella species, presents significant challenges due to its diverse clinical manifestations and the risk of long-term complications and poor outcomes. Identifying predictors of adverse outcomes is critical for improving patient management and overall prognosis.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the long-term morbidity and mortality associated with neurobrucellosis and to identify key predictors of adverse outcomes.

Background: Prenatal development of autonomic innervation of sinus venosus-related structures might be related to atrial arrhythmias later in life. Most of the pioneering studies providing embryological background are conducted in animal models. To date, a detailed comparison with the human cardiac autonomic nervous system (cANS) is lacking.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a critical condition affecting the central nervous system that often has permanent and debilitating consequences, including secondary injuries. Oxidative damage and inflammation are critical factors in secondary pathological processes. Selenium nanoparticles have demonstrated significant antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties via a non-immunosuppressive pathway; however, their clinical application has been limited by their inadequate stability and functionality to cross the blood-spinal cord barrier (BSCB).

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease with no effective treatment, often preceded by mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Multimodal imaging genetics integrates imaging and genetic data to gain a deeper understanding of disease progression and individual variations. This study focuses on exploring the mechanisms that drive the transition from normal cognition to MCI and ultimately to AD.
