A comparative review of murine models of repeated low-dose cisplatin-induced chronic kidney disease.

Lab Anim (NY)

January 2025

Research Center of Combine Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Prophylaxis and Treatment of Organ Fibrosis by Integrated Medicine of Luzhou Key Laboratory, The Affiliated Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Southwest Medical University, Luzhou, China.

This Review evaluates various mouse and rat models of chronic kidney disease (CKD) that result from repeated low-dose cisplatin (RLDC) treatment while also discussing ethical considerations on the topic. Cisplatin can cause nephrotoxicity, and high doses of cisplatin can cause acute kidney injury. The RLDC regimen has been used in the treatment of solid organ cancers and has shown efficacy in reducing the occurrence of acute kidney injury in patients.

Solid-state detector single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) enables the acquisition of dynamic data for calculation of myocardial blood flow (MBF) and myocardial flow reserve (MFR). Here, we report about our experiences on routine clinical use and robustness using Tc-99 m-sestamibi and Tc-99 m-tetrofosmin. 307 patients underwent dynamic list-mode myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) and standard static MPI for clinical workup of coronary artery disease on a dedicated cardiac SPECT camera.

sgRNA Single-Nucleotide Resolution by Ion-Pairing Reversed-Phase Chromatography.

Anal Chem

January 2025

Synthetic Molecule Design and Development, Eli Lilly and Company, Lilly Corporate Center, Indianapolis, Indiana 46285, United States.

Single-stranded guide RNAs (sgRNAs) are important therapeutic modalities that facilitate selective genome editing by the CRISPR/Cas9 system. While these therapeutic modalities are synthesized through solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis similar to small interfering RNA (siRNAs) and antisense oligonucleotide (ASOs) therapeutics, their sequence length and complex secondary and tertiary structure hinder analytical characterization. The resulting current sgRNA methodologies have limited chromatographic selectivity near the FLP and limited MS compatibility.

Upcycling industrial peach waste to produce dissolving pulp.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

January 2025

Laboratory of Design and Development of Innovative Knitted Textiles and Garments, Department of Industrial Design and Production Engineering, University of West Attica, 12244, Egaleo, Attica, Greece.

This study investigates the production of high-purity cellulose pulp from peach (Prunus persica) fruit wastes generated during the processing of a Greek compote and juice production industry. A three-step chemical process is used, including alkaline treatment with NaOH, organic acid (acetic and formic) treatment, and hydrogen peroxide treatment, with the goal of cellulose extraction and purification. A fractional factorial design optimized reagent levels, revealing the strong influence of NaOH concentration on α-cellulose content and degree of polymerization.

Ultrafast Photoflash Synthesis of High-Entropy Oxide Nanoparticles.

ACS Nano

January 2025

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Stanford University, Stanford, California 94305, United States.

High-entropy metal oxides (HEOs) have recently received growing attention for broad energy conversion and storage applications due to their tunable properties. HEOs typically involve the combination of multiple metal cations in a single oxide lattice, thus bringing distinctive structures, controllable elemental composition, and tunable functional properties. Many synthesis methods for HEOs have been reported, such as solid-state reactions and carbon thermal shock methods.
