Background: Anastomotic leakage following colorectal surgery remains a significant complication despite advances in surgical techniques. Recent findings on serosal injury repair in coelomic cavities, such as the peritoneum, challenge the current understanding of the cellular origins and mechanisms underlying intestinal anastomotic healing. Understanding the contribution of each layer of the intestinal wall during anastomotic healing is needed to find new therapeutic strategies to prevent anastomotic leakage.

Peritoneal cancer is the invasion by malignant cells of serous membrane that lines the abdominal cavity, the viscera, and the coelom of the amniotes. Histologically, it is indistinguishable from ovarian counterpart, although in the former, it commonly involves the ovary only superficially, or it may totally lack an ovarian component, but with extensive involvement of the peritoneum, calcified perihepatic peritoneal nodules, or involvement of the omentum, in most cases. The current study describes the case of a 54-year-old female patient referring a history of colitis and dairy intolerance.

The objectives of this study were to describe the gross anatomy and ultrasonographic appearance of coelomic organs in subadult and adult axolotls (), to describe an ultrasound technique, and to test correlations of ultrasonographic measurement with body length, width, and weight. Necropsies of coelomic organs were conducted on 10 axolotls (females = 5; males = 5) and ultrasound on 11 (males = 5; females = 6). Animals were kept in water and maintained conscious during ultrasound.

Passive integrated transponder (PIT) and visible implant elastomer (VIE) tags are commonly used to identify reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Despite reports of good retention rates and little to no negative effect on survival time, migration remains a concern and histologic changes have not been widely evaluated. Fifty-six wild-caught marine toads () were marked with a PIT tag in the left caudal thigh and a VIE tag over the right gastrocnemius muscle prior to transport to the North Carolina Zoo.
