[Dynamics of cytokines in blood and liquor at the spinal injured patients.].

Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech

Spinální jednotka Urazové nemocnice, Brno.

Published: October 2012

Authors followed the increase of cytokines concentration in blood and liquor at spine injured patients. The degree of the neurological damage was classified according to Frankel scale. Mediators: IL-1, IL-2, IL-6, TNF-alfa, Cortisol were investigated. No significant response of IL-1, IL-2, TNF-alfa to the spinal injury was documented. The Cortisol levels in blood and liquor reached vallues of 100 pg/ml. But no statistical correlation between the Cortisol level and various degrees of spinal neurological damage was identified. The increase in Cortisol concentration can be explained by the stress reaction of the organism. The IL-6 blood and liquor concentrations reached extremly high vallues. We certified a significant relationship between the IL-6 level and the neurological damage of the spinal cord. In prognostic point of view we conclude that the lower increase of IL-6 means: a)lower degree of the neurological damage of the spinal cord classified by Frankel; b)higher percentage of neurological improvement. Key words: cytokines, spinal injury, spinal cord lesion.

Background: The dynein cytoplasmic two heavy chain 1 (DYNC2H1) gene encodes a cytoplasmic dynein subunit. Cytoplasmic dyneins transport cargo towards the minus end of microtubules and are thus termed the "retrograde" cellular motor. Mutations in DYNC2H1 are the main causative mutations of short rib-thoracic dysplasia syndrome type III with or without polydactyly (SRTD3).

Maternal diet has long-term effects on offspring brain development and behavior. Sucrose (table sugar) intakes are high in modern diets, but it is not clear how a maternal high-sucrose diet (HSD) affects the offspring. In rats, a maternal HSD (26% of calories from sucrose, which is human-relevant) alters maternal metabolism and brain and also alters adult offspring endocrinology and behavior in a sex-specific manner.

This study aims to equip clinicians with the necessary insights for identifying and managing pregnant women experiencing elevated maternal pyrexia during labor. It examines maternal and neonatal outcomes along with the factors associated with varying peak temperatures. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 319 pregnant women presenting with maternal pyrexia during labor.

This study aimed to analyze the causative factors of histological chorioamnionitis (HCA) in parturients with intrapartum fever, assess the implications for maternal and neonatal outcomes, and develop a predictive model to enhance clinical decision-making. A retrospective analysis was performed on 408 parturients with intrapartum fever at Fujian Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2022 to June 2023. Based on post-delivery placental pathology, the data were categorized into HCA (249 cases) and non-HCA groups (159 cases).

Background: In cases of maternal primary infection with cytomegalovirus (CMV-MPI) maternal treatment with oral valaciclovir 8 g/day has been shown to reduce the risk of fetal infection. The pharmacological profile of this high dosage during pregnancy is not yet known.

Objectives: To quantify maternal-fetal exposure to valaciclovir 8 g/day in a population pharmacokinetic (popPK) study.
