Despite preventive measures, lung hyperinflation is a relatively common complication following single lung transplantation to treat pulmonary emphysema. The progressive compression of the graft can cause mediastinal shift and respiratory failure. In addition to therapeutic strategies such as independent ventilation, the treatment consists of the reduction of native lung volume by means of lobectomy or lung volume reduction surgery. We report two cases of native lung hyperinflation after single lung transplantation. Both cases were treated by means of lobectomy or lung volume reduction surgery.

Introduction: SRS for the treatment of limited brain metastases (BM) is widely accepted, but there are still limitations in the management of numerous BM. Frameless single-isocenter multitarget SRS is a novel technique that allows for rapid treatment delivery to multiple BM. We report our preliminary clinical, dosimetric, and patient´s shifts outcomes with this technique.

Background: The currently approved frontline treatments for diffuse pleural mesothelioma (DPM) are ipilimumab-nivolumab or platinum-pemetrexed. The addition of bevacizumab to chemotherapy improves overall survival (OS). While single-agent immunotherapy or chemotherapy-immunotherapy combinations are superior to chemotherapy monotherapy, there is a potential for synergistic triple combination of chemotherapy, bevacizumab, and immunotherapy.

Deformable registration aims to achieve nonlinear alignment of image space by estimating a dense displacement field. It is commonly used as a preprocessing step in clinical and image analysis applications, such as surgical planning, diagnostic assistance, and surgical navigation. We aim to overcome these challenges: Deep learning-based registration methods often struggle with complex displacements and lack effective interaction between global and local feature information.

(MTB) ESX-1, a type VII secretion system, is a key virulence determinant contributing to MTB's survival within lung mononuclear phagocytes (MNPs), but its effect on MNP recruitment and differentiation remains unknown. Here, using multiple single-cell RNA sequencing techniques, we studied the role of ESX-1 in MNP heterogeneity and response in mice and murine bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM). We found that ESX-1 is required for MTB to recruit diverse MNP subsets with high MTB burden.

Background: It has been proposed that more aggressive tumors trigger a stronger inflammatory response than less aggressive types. We hypothesize that systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) is associated with occult nodal disease (OND) in clinically node negative (cN0) patients undergoing lung resection for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Study Design: The study included patients who underwent lung resection with nodal dissection, according to current guidelines, at a single center between 2010-2021 for NSCLC.
