Background/aim: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is an epithelial malignancy that is most prevalent in Southeast Asia, particularly in the northeast of Thailand. Identifying and establishing specific biomarkers of CCA is crucial for ensuring accurate prognosis and enabling effective treatment. High-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is a damage-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) molecule that can be released by dead or injured cells and is associated with tumor progression.

Background: The gold standard for assessing neonatal jaundice (NJ) is the serum total serum bilirubin (TSB) level by the diazo method. A transcutaneous bilirubinometer (TCB) provides a convenient, noninvasive readout within minutes. The reliability of TCB as the diagnostic tool and the proper site for TCB measurement remains unsettled.

The liver and kidneys are important organs for body homeostasis but susceptible to damage or injury caused by different factors. A number of medicinal plants, such as have been proven effective in protecting the liver and kidneys from damage. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the effect of extract (CcE) on paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity and gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity in rat model.

We recently reported factors leading to different severity of ruminal pH drop in primiparous cows fed the same diet during transition and early lactation. The present study evaluates the effects of those severities on performance and several blood and balance parameters in the same 24 primiparous cows from 3 wk before calving until wk 10 in lactation. Dietary concentrate was increased for all cows from 32 before calving to 60% (DM basis) over the first wk in lactation, resulting in a diet with 40% non-fiber carbohydrates (NFC), and 14.
