In this paper, the modified nonlinear Schrödinger equation is investigated, which describes the femtosecond optical pulse propagation in a monomodal optical fiber. Based on the Wadati-Konno-Ichikawa system, another type of Lax pair and infinitely many conservation laws are derived. Dark and antidark soliton solutions in the normal dispersion regime are obtained by means of the Hirota method. Parametric regions for the existence of the dark and antidark soliton solutions are given. Asymptotic analysis of the two-soliton solution shows that collisions between two solitons (two antidark solitons, two dark solitons, and dark and antidark solitons) are elastic. In addition, collision between dark and antidark solitons reveals that dark and antidark solitons can co-exist on the same background in the normal dispersion regime.

We investigate the existence and stability properties of chirped gray and anti-dark solitary waves within the framework of a coupled cubic nonlinear Helmholtz equation in the presence of self-steepening and a self-frequency shift. We show that for a particular combination of self-steepening and a self-frequency shift, there is not only chirping but also chirp reversal. Specifically, the associated nontrivial phase has two intensity dependent terms: one varies as the reciprocal of the intensity, while the other, which depends on non-Kerr nonlinearities, is directly proportional to the intensity.

Background: Glutathione has become a potential skin-lightening ingredient after the discovery of its anti-melanogenic properties. Various mechanisms of action have been considered to explain this property, one of them being the skewing of the melanin synthesis pathway toward the production of lighter pheomelanin instead of darker eumelanin, consequently producing a lightening effect.
Aims: To evaluate the skin lightening and anti-dark spot effects of oral supplementation with L-Cystine associated with L-Glutathione as compared to placebo and benchmark.

We study the interaction of optical beams of different wavelengths, described by a two-component, two-dimensional (2D) nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) model. Using a multiscale expansion method the NLS model is asymptotically reduced to the completely integrable 2D Mel'nikov system, the soliton solutions of which are used to construct approximate dark-bright and antidark-bright soliton solutions of the original NLS model; the latter being unique to the nonlocal NLS system with no relevant counterparts in the local case. Direct numerical simulations show that, for sufficiently small amplitudes, both these types of soliton stripes do exist and propagate undistorted, in excellent agreement with the analytical predictions.

With the stationary solution assumption, we establish the connection between the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NNLS) equation and an elliptic equation. Then, we obtain the general stationary solutions and discuss the relevance of their smoothness and boundedness to some integral constants. Those solutions, which cover the known results in the literature, include the unbounded Jacobi elliptic-function and hyperbolic-function solutions, the bounded sn-, cn-, and dn-function solutions, as well as the hyperbolic soliton solutions.
