The treatment of diabetic wounds with bacterial infection is a major challenge in the medical field. Microenvironment-responsive hydrogel dressings have shown great advantages, and photothermal antibacterial therapy is a potential antimicrobial strategy to avoid the generation of resistant bacteria. In this work, a glucose-triggered near-infrared (NIR)-responsive photothermal antibacterial hydrogel was designed and named GOGD based on a cascade reaction of glucose oxidation and polyphenol polymerization.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Cholestatic liver injury (CLI) is a pathophysiological syndrome characterized by the accumulation of bile acids (BAs), which leads to significant hepatic dysfunction. This condition is frequently associated with disturbances in BAs homeostasis and the induction of oxidative stress. Ribes diacanthum Pall (RDP), a conventional folk medicinal plant, has been employed in Mongolia, the Inner Mongolia region of China, and other areas for the remediation of hepatic disorders.

Microbial compartment provides a promising approach for achieving high-valued chemical biosynthesis from renewable feedstock. However, volatile precursor could be utilized by pathway enzyme, which may hinder and adverse the cascade catalysis within microbial cell factory. Here, a customizable compartment was developed for pathway sequestration using spatially assembled cascade catalysis reaction.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally, necessitating the development of sensitive and minimally invasive diagnostic approaches. In this study, we present a novel diagnostic strategy by integrating dumbbell probe-mediated CRISPR/Cas13a with nicking-induced DNA cascade reaction (DP-bridged Cas13a/NDCR) for highly sensitive microRNA (miRNA) detection. Target miRNA triggers Cas13a-mediated cleavage of the dumbbell probe, releasing an intermediate strand that hybridizes with a methylene blue-labeled hairpin probe on the electrode surface.
