Background: Patients with end-stage renal disease often face prolonged waiting times for kidney transplants. Historically, the use of marginal kidneys was limited due to suboptimal preservation methods. Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) preserves physiological activity during the preservation process, potentially improving graft function and viability, expanding the use of marginal kidneys.

Background: Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) provides a platform for kidney quality assessment. Donation after circulatory death (DCD) donor kidneys are associated with great ischemic injury and high intrarenal resistance (IRR). This experimental study aims to investigate the impact of different perfusion pressures on marginal kidney function and injury during NMP.

Background: Currently, there are no standardized guidelines for graft allocation in heart transplants (HTxs), particularly when considering organs from marginal donors and donors after cardiocirculatory arrest. This complexity highlights the need for an effective risk analysis tool for primary graft dysfunction (PGD), a severe complication in HTx. Existing score systems for predicting PGD lack superior predictive capability and are often too complex for routine clinical use.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common skin malignancy, typically occurs in sun-exposed areas but can develop in atypical locations, such as scars, burns, and skin graft donor sites. BCC arising specifically in full-thickness skin graft donor sites is exceptionally rare. This study presents a unique case of BCC occurring 16 years post-graft harvesting and provides a comprehensive literature review to analyze clinical patterns, possible etiopathogenesis, and treatment strategies.

(1) Background: Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) is a technique designed to assess and recondition marginal lungs, potentially expanding the donor pool and improving transplant outcomes (2) Methods: This retrospective study evaluated lung transplantation outcomes after EVLP. Donor lungs were assessed using the Toronto protocol, with data on hemodynamics, gas exchange, and perfusion parameters collected and analyzed. Post-transplant complications and survival rates were also examined.
