An asymmetric twistacene, 1',4'-diphenyl-naphtho-(2'.3':1.2)-pyrene-6'-nitro-7'-methyl carboxylate (tetracene 2), was synthesized by using benzyne-trapping chemistry. Its structure, determined by X-ray crystallography, confirmed that this material has a twisted topology with torsion angles as high as 23.8(3) degrees. Organic light-emitting devices using tetracene 2 as either charge-transporting materials or emitters have been fabricated. The results indicate that this material has bipolar transporting behavior in these devices.

The poor efficiency and stability of blue Quantum Dot Light-Emitting diodes (QLED) hinders the practical applications of QLEDs full-color displays. Excessive electron injection, insufficient hole injection, and abundant defects on the surface of quantum dots (QD) are the main issues limiting the performance of blue devices. Herein, an in situ treatment with bipolar small molecule polydentate ligand-guanidine chloride (GACl) is proposed to simultaneously suppress excessive electron injection, patch surface defects of QDs and enhance hole injection.

Crystalline organic semiconductors, recognized for their highly ordered structures and high carrier mobility, have emerged as a focal point in the field of high-performance optoelectronic devices. Nevertheless, the intrinsic unipolar properties, characterized by imbalanced hole and electron transport capabilities, have continuously represented a significant challenge in the advancement of high-performance crystalline thin-film organic light-emitting diodes (C-OLEDs). Here, a bipolar solid-solution thin film with a maintained crystal structure has been fabricated using 2-(4-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)-1(3,5-difluorophenyl)-1H-phenanthro [9,10-d]imidazole (2FPPICz) and 4-(1-(3,5-difluorophenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)-N,N-diphenylaniline (2Fn) via a weak epitaxial growth (WEG) process, exhibiting nearly equivalent hole and electron mobilities (10-10 cm V s).

Borophene, as a new material with various configurations, has attracted significant research attention in recent years. In this study, the electronic properties of a series of χ-type borophene nanoribbons (BNRs) are investigated using a first-principles approach. The results show that the width and edge pattern of the nanoribbons can effectively tune their electronic properties.

The design of the flow field structure for bipolar plates significantly influences the output performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Adding baffles in the flow channels can enhance the transportation of reactants and electrochemical performance of the PEMFCs. In this study, three types of baffles with different shapes and sizes were designed.

Introduction: Bipolar 2 disorder (BD2) is an independent disease with specific familial aggregation, significant functional impairment, specific treatment challenges and several distinctive clinical features. However, unlike bipolar 1 disorder, studies investigating causal and functional genes are lacking. This study aims to identify and prioritize causal genetic variants and genes for BD2 by analyzing brain-specific gene expression markers, to improve the understanding of its genetic underpinnings and support advancements in diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
