Background: Documenting a detailed smoking history is of obvious importance. Failure to adequately document the smoking history may result in the misdiagnosis and management of asthma, and may be associated with a deficiency of care in patients with cardiovascular disease and several other common diseases.
Scope: The purpose of this article is to review the evidence over the past decade that demonstrates inadequate documentation of smoking history. A literature search of English language journals from 1999 to 2009 was completed using several databases, including PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and SCOPUS.
Findings: Fourteen studies demonstrated inadequate documentation of smoking histories by primary care clinicians, specialists, residents, and medical students. Failure to document smoking histories was observed in patients with conditions such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, and asthma. Electronic decision support systems and simple medical record reminders were effective in improving the documentation of smoking histories.
Conclusions: Failure to adequately document the smoking history appears to be common. Strategies such as electronic decision support systems are needed to correct this problem in order for patients to receive optimal therapy for their appropriate diagnoses.

The study aimed to investigate the factors associated with early necrosis of the finger after reimplantation of broken fingers. Sixty-seven cases of reimplantation of severed fingers in our hospital between January 2023 and December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent reimplantation of severed fingers and were divided into early necrosis group and non-necrosis group according to the presence or absence of early necrosis of the finger body 7 days after surgery.

Over the past few decades, dental implants have been successfully utilized to replace teeth lost due to periodontal disease and other conditions. However, similar to natural teeth, dental implants are vulnerable to inflammatory peri-implant diseases, which can compromise their long-term viability. This review aims to summarize the current understanding of peri-implant diseases and discuss effective strategies for their diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management.

There are many aspects in the relationship between smoking and sleep that have not been investigated thoroughly yet, especially in regards to obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). In this cross-sectional study, 2359 participants, who have visited the sleep clinic of our hospital during a 13-year period and were former or current smokers, were included. Their smoking history, measured in packyears of smoking, and their nicotine dependence, measured with the Fagerström scale, were correlated with various epidemiological and sleep-related variables.

Background: Airway inflammation is considered one of the pathogenic factors in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but the role of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the development of RA remains unclear. We used cross-sectional studies and Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to explore the link between COPD and RA.
Methods: In National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013-2018, the association between COPD and RA was investigated using weighted logistic regression models.
