[Social information processing in physically and relationally aggressive preschool children].

Objective: It was examined whether physically and relationally aggressive children exhibit deficits in social information processing.

Method: 193 preschool children (mean age: 55 months) were presented with hypothetical social situations in order to assess responses that indicate deficient social information processing (hostile attribution of intent, generation of aggressive responses, positive evaluation of aggression and aggressive response selection).

Results: Physically aggressive children attributed more hostile intent, generated more aggressive responses, selected more aggressive reactions and had more overall deficits in social information processing than children who were not physically aggressive. Relationally aggressive children, on the other hand, did not show any problems in social information processing.

Conclusions: The social information processing model does not explain relationally aggressive behavior. To prevent or reduce physical aggression, social information processing should be promoted among children of preschool age.

Drinking alcohol facilitates pleasure for women while also elevating disease risk. Symbolic expectations of what alcohol 'does in' life per lay insight (relax, identity-work, connect) sit in tension with scientific realities about what alcohol 'does to' women's bodies (elevate chronic disease risks such as breast cancer). Policy must work amidst - and despite - these paradoxes to reduce harm(s) to women by attending to the gendered and emergent configurations of both realities.

Teachers' tolerance toward children's social behaviors is, in part, guided by teachers' cognitions and emotions. Few studies have examined the associations between teachers' cognitions, emotions, and tolerance toward children's social behaviors. This study aimed to (1) describe the cognitions, emotions, and tolerance of Portuguese preschool teachers toward children's shy, physically and relationally aggressive, rough-and-tumble play, exuberant, and unsociable behaviors at preschool, depending on children's sex; and (2) examine the direct and indirect associations (via teachers' emotions) between teachers' cognitions and tolerance toward children's social behaviors, depending on children's sex.

Atmospheric negations: Weaponising breathing, attuning irreducible bodies.

This paper elaborates various ways in which atmospheric negations operate by weaponising bodily vulnerability to air. It shows, firstly, how bodies remain exposed to colonial proximities of respiratory, olfactory, and sonic violence with ways that are constituted through negating site- and body-spheres. It highlights these spheric materialities by discussing the use of tear gas and skunk water, bombing of chemical warehouses, and the sonic settler aggression in Palestine, further arguing that we need to pay more attention to the irreducibility of the body to such violent orchestrations of atmospheric.
