Dento-alveolar process fracture is an important and common event in the dental office practice usually managed under the well-established protocols, but sometimes this kind of lesion is evaluated in the hospital emergency rooms without attention to the dental injuries. In this type of trauma, the time between the injury and the definitive resolution is essential for the treatment success, usually 1 h in cases of dento-alveolar fractures (tooth and alveolar bone). This paper describes the management of a patient with unusual dento-alveolar fracture caused by gunshot and treated using screw fixation.

Children and adolescents are vulnerable to dental trauma due to their active lifestyles, lack of coordination, and inexperience in recognizing potentially dangerous situations. Early recognition and proper management of dental trauma is crucial in order to minimize the risk of complications and ensure optimal outcomes. The objective of this study is to evaluate the predicted mandibular fracture pattern among a sample of patients visiting a dental hospital in Chennai, India based on patient demographics. This retrospective analysis involved 46 patients out of which 39 were male and 7 were female who were referred to the Oral Surgery Clinic, Chennai. The medical records and orthopantograms for these 46 patients who received treatment for fractures of the mandible from June 2019- March 2020 were reviewed.
