Genome-wide development of simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers at 2-Mb intervals in lotus (Nelumbo Adans.).

BMC Genomics

January 2025

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Plant Functional Genomics and Resources, Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden, No. 3888 Chenhua Road, Songjiang District, Shanghai, 201602, China.

Background: Despite the rapid advancement of high-throughput sequencing, simple sequence repeats (SSRs) remain indispensable molecular markers for various applied and research tasks owing to their cost-effectiveness and ease of use. However, existing SSR markers cannot meet the growing demand for research on lotus (Nelumbo Adans.) given their scarcity and weak connections to the lotus genome.

Integration of paper-based colorimetric microdevice and magnetic nanoparticles affinity for high-throughput capture of antimicrobial resistance-reversing agent from complex natural products.

Biosens Bioelectron

December 2024

Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, School of Pharmacy, Key Laboratory of Protection, Development and Utilization of Medicinal Resources in Liupanshan Area, Ministry of Education, Ningxia Medical University, Yinchuan, 750004, China. Electronic address:

Efficient analysis of active ingredient in complex natural products is crucial for drug discovery, but developing a simple method for this is challenging. The discovery of drugs against bacterial resistance is urgent because drug-resistant bacteria produce β-lactamases, which inactivate antibiotics and increase infection risks, particularly the AmpC β-lactamase. Here, an integrated analytical model based on colorimetric sensing and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) affinity chromatography was developed for screening AmpC β-lactamase inhibitors.

This study presents a copper-catalyzed, substrate-controlled regio- and enantioselective intermolecular hydrosilylation method capable of accommodating a broad scope of alkenes and prochiral silanes. The approach offers an efficient and versatile pathway to generate enantioenriched linear and branched alkyl-substituted Si-stereogenic silanes. Key features of this reaction include mild reaction conditions, simple catalytic systems, compatibility with diverse substrates, high yields and enantioselectivities.

The functionalization of pyridines at positions remote to the N-atom remains an outstanding problem in organic synthesis. The inherent challenges associated with overriding the influence of the embedded N-atom within pyridines was overcome using n-butylsodium, which provided an avenue to deprotonate and functionalize the C4-position over traditionally observed addition products that are formed with organolithium bases. In this work, we show that freshly generated 4-sodiopyrdines could undergo transition metal free alkylation reactions directly with a variety of primary alkyl halides bearing diverse functional groups.

Effectiveness and Safety of Glue-based Dural Closure in Cranial Surgery: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

J Craniofac Surg

January 2025

Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of TCM Diagnostics, Institute of TCM Diagnostics, Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, Changsha, Hunan, People's Republic of China.

Dural closure is a crucial step in cranial surgery, essential for preventing complications like cerebrospinal fluid leakage, wound infections, and meningitis. Traditional suturing techniques, however, pose challenges such as technical difficulty and the potential for tissue damage. This retrospective study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of a nonsuture dural closure method using medical glue for direct adhesion of a patch to the dura mater.
