Published: September 2009

Colloidal mesoporous silica nanoparticles less than 20 nm in diameter are prepared by dialysis; this simple surfactant removal route can avoid aggregation by sedimentation-redispersion and remove cationic surfactants while retaining the original colloidal state, which is applicable to the preparation of primary nanoparticles carrying a functional organic substance.

Herein, a novel nanocomposite was developed to adjust the textural properties of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for adsorptive applications. To this end, nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite (RC) was embedded into MIL-101(Cr) crystals, named RC-ML-x nanocomposites. The prepared nanoadsorbents were thoroughly characterized by different techniques.

Developing multimodal combination therapy strategies to disrupt the redox homeostasis within tumor cells is currently an important approach in cancer treatment. In this study, we designed and prepared multifunctional composite nanoparticles MPDA-PEG@MnO@2-DG (MPPMD NPs) utilizing mesoporous polydopamine nanoparticles (MPDA NPs) as carriers. These carriers were coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG), and manganese dioxide (MnO) and loaded with 2-deoxy-d-glucose (2-DG).

Breast cancer remains one of the most prevalent and deadly cancers among women worldwide, necessitating the development of more effective and comprehensive treatment strategies. In this study, we successfully synthesized mesoporous polydopamine (MPDA) with photothermal effects for the co-delivery of the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) and the immune adjuvant imiquimod (R837), resulting in the development of a multifunctional nanoplatforms termed MDR. MDR displayed excellent photothermal conversion efficiency and pH-responsive drug release behavior.

Ministry of Education Key Laboratory for the Green Preparation and Application of Functional Materials, Hubei Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Hubei University, Wuhan 430062, China. Electronic address:

Catalytic species such as molecular catalysts and metal catalysts are commonly attached to varieties of supports to simplify their separation and recovery and accommodate various reaction conditions. The physicochemical microenvironments surrounding catalytic species play an important role in catalytic performance, and the rational design and engineering of microenvironments can achieve more efficient chemical synthesis, leading to greener and more sustainable catalysis. In this review, we highlight recent works addressing the topic of the design and engineering of microenvironments of supported catalysts, including supported molecular catalysts and supported metal catalysts.

Enhanced electro-catalysis for methanol oxidation reaction performance by edge defects of ordered mesoporous carbon.

Heteroatom-doped carbon materials are widely used to improve the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol; however, the underlying mechanisms driving this enhancement remain poorly understood. A major challenge lies in developing non-doped carbon supports with tunable intrinsic defect types tailored for metal-based catalysts. In this study, we synthesize a series of ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) supports with adjustable edge defect densities by varying roasting temperatures and employing a zinc (Zn) evaporation strategy to systematically investigate the impact of edge defects on methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) performance.
