Adolescence is a critical period for developing risk behaviors such as substance use, which can impact health in adulthood. Culturally adapted evidence-based programs (EBPs) are promising for prevention. This review explores the processes for culturally adapting EBPs targeting alcohol, tobacco, or cannabis use, and/or anxiety or depression in adolescents.

7-Aminoactinomycin D (7AAMD) is the fluorescent analogue of the anticancer drug actinomycin D (AMD). In order to overcome toxic side effects and enhanced bioavailability of 7AAMD, micellar drug carrier systems could be useful. We have used cationic (hexadecetyltrimethylammonium bromide [CTAB]), anionic (sodium dodecyl sulphate [SDS]) and non-ionic (t-octylphenoxypolyoxyethanol, Triton-X100 [TX 100]) surfactants to prepare micelle.

Transmission electron microscopy can be used for the characterisation of a wide range of thin specimens, but soft matter and aqueous samples such as gels, nanoparticle dispersions, and emulsions will dry out and collapse under the microscope vacuum, therefore losing information on their native state and ultimately limiting the understanding of the sample. This study examines commonly used techniques in transmission electron microscopy when applied to the characterisation of cryogenically frozen Pickering emulsion samples. Oil-in-water Pickering emulsions stabilised by 3 to 5 nm platinum nanoparticles were cryogenically frozen by plunge-freezing into liquid ethane to retain the native structure of the system without inducing crystallisation of the droplet oil cores.

2D electronically conductive porous coordination polymers/metal-organic frameworks (2D EC-MOFs) of M-HHTPs (HHTP = 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene; M = Co, Ni, Cu, etc.) have received extensive attention due to their ease of preparation, semiconductive properties, and tunability based on the choice of metal species. However, slight shifts between layers attenuate their specific surface area and stability.

Sub-models representing transformation processes by microorganisms and hydrolases, a one-dimensional (1-D) biofilm, and a bioreactor were integrated to simulate organic-matter fermentation and methane (CH) production in an anaerobic moving bed biofilm reactor (AnMBBR). The integrated models correctly represented all experimental observations and identified mechanisms underlying how and why AnMBBR performance changed when the volumetric loading rate (VLR) of total chemical oxygen demand (TCOD) increased from 3.9 to 19.
