Background: Once an incurable deadly disease of urgent public health concern, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection has now evolved into a chronic condition largely manageable with combination therapy as the treatment standard. In comparison, Alzheimer disease (AD) is a fatal illness that continues to pose epidemiologic and socioeconomic challenges not only to persons and families affected by it but also to the healthcare system as a whole. With the recent approval of multi-targeted therapies in AD and numerous clinical trials in the pipeline, there is an urgency to search for ways to best maximize their efficacy and utility.

Implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Respect (DEIR) is crucial for supporting students in a culturally safe environment, reducing bias, fostering respect, broadening perspectives, enhancing collaboration, and improving education in science. DEIR with Indigenous reconciliation incorporates Indigenous-based DEIR initiatives as a response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in Canada to acknowledge the intergenerational trauma and mistrust toward colonial institutions such as universities. Universities can advance reconciliation by incorporating DEIR with Indigenous reconciliation into everyday practices.

Background: Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a common disorder interfering with physical, emotional and social domains, and overall quality of life (QoL). The Heavy Menstrual Bleeding-Visual Analog Scale (HMB-VAS) tool, including the VAS for menstrual bleeding intensity (VAS-Int) and the VAS for its interference with daily activities (VAS-Imp), is useful for HMB screening. The SAMANTA questionnaire (SAMANTA-Q) was developed and psychometrically validated in Spanish to easily identify women with HMB.
