While myoelectric control has been commercialized in prosthetics for decades, its adoption for more general human-machine interaction has been slow. Although high accuracies can be achieved across many gestures, current control approaches are prone to false activations in real-world conditions. This is because the same electromyogram (EMG) signals generated during the elicitation of gestures are also naturally activated when performing activities of daily living (ADLs), such as when driving to work or while typing on a keyboard.

Symptomatic bowstringing of digital flexor tendons is a rare complication of carpal tunnel release (CTR). Two weeks after open CTR, a 47-year-old man with severe carpal tunnel syndrome had relief of his preoperative median paresthesia but complained of new-onset painful snapping of the wrist and transient ulnar paresthesia occurring with wrist dorsiflexion and concomitant digital flexion. Physical examination localized the audible snapping to the hook of hamate (HOH) where manual pressure eliminated the wrist motion-induced snapping and the associated ulnar paresthesia.

The main goal of this research is to develop a highly advanced anthropomorphic control system utilizing multiple sensor technologies to achieve precise control of a robotic arm. Combining Kinect and IMU sensors, together with a data glove, we aim to create a multimodal sensor system for capturing rich information of human upper body movements. Specifically, the four angles of upper limb joints are collected using the Kinect sensor and IMU sensor.

The extensor digiti minimi is a muscle in the posterior compartment of the forearm that extends the fifth digit. Variations of the extensor tendons of the hand are common and mostly asymptomatic, however, some may impinge and occupy the narrow dorsal compartments of the wrist causing dorsal wrist pain and impairment of digital movement. Orthopedic literature illustrates how frequent anomalies of the extensor indicis proprius, extensor digitorum brevis manus, and extensor medii proprius occur; however, minimal literature documents a bulbous, multi slip extensor digiti minimi.

Purpose: Extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) subsheath injuries result in ulnar-sided wrist pain and often present concurrently with intrinsic ECU pathology and ulnocarpal compartment injuries. There is a lack of surgical outcome data despite the variety of described ECU subsheath pathologies and reconstructive strategies.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our hand-center experience of 33 patients who prospectively underwent radially based extensor retinacular sling ECU subsheath reconstruction by 4 hand surgery-fellowship-trained surgeons between April 2010 and April 2021.
