Inspired by our recent success in designing CO-phobic and CO-philic domains on nano-MgO for effective CO adsorption, our ongoing efforts focus on incorporating dopants into pristine MgO to further enhance its CO adsorption capabilities. However, a clear set of guidelines for dopant selection and a holistic understanding of the underlying mechanisms is still lacking. In our investigation, we combined first-principles calculations with experimental approaches to explore the crystal and electronic structural changes in MgO doped with high-valence elements (Al, C, Si, and Ti) and their interactions with CO.

Background: Community Health Workers locally known as Village Health Workers (VHW) in Lesotho are key members of the primary health workforce, and has been playing a significant role in building primary health systems in many countries and they can fill significant gaps in human resources as low and middle income countries work towards universal health coverage in the era of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2014 Lesotho health reform restructured the VHW program to compensate, professionalize, and integrate VHWs into primary care services. We sought to document the ways in which the VHW program changed as a result of the health reform and the perceived impact of those changes.

Background: Uganda has been confronted with a sustained influx of refugees for decades. This prompted the government to explore opportunities to integrate refugees into local service structures including its national health system. This paper chronicles the history of policies and strategies that have influenced the integration of refugees into the national health system in Uganda and investigates factors that impacted policy evolution and progression.

Photocatalytic conversion has emerged as a promising strategy for harnessing renewable solar energy in the valorization of plastic waste. However, research on the photocatalytic transformation of plastics into valuable nitrogen-containing chemicals remains limited. In this study, we present a visible-light-driven pathway for the conversion of polylactic acid (PLA) into alanine under mild conditions.

Virus-laden aerosols play a substantial role in the spread of numerous infectious diseases, particularly in enclosed indoor settings. Ultraviolet-C (UVC) disinfection is known to be a highly efficient method for disinfecting pathogenic airborne viruses. Recent recommendations suggest using far-UVC radiation (222 nm) emitted by KrCl* (krypton-chloride) excimer lamps to disinfect high-risk public spaces due to lower exposure risks than low-pressure (LP) mercury lamps (254 nm).
