This study investigated the association between head of household disability and the severity of food insecurity in Colombian households during 2017. A secondary data analysis was conducted based on 2017 Colombian National Quality of Life Survey (ECV 2017). As the independent variable, disability was assessed using questions from the Washington group, whereas the dependent variable - food insecurity - was measured by the Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Scale (ELCSA).

Superior mesenteric artery syndrome is an acquired vascular compression disorder resulting from the compression of the third portion of the duodenum, which is the first part of the small intestine, leading to a reduction in the space between the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery. Although rare, superior mesenteric artery syndrome-induced pancreatitis has been documented in the literature. This article presents the case of a 20-year-old female patient with a history of colectomy for acute severe colitis, resulting in significant weight loss.

The participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) consume greater amounts of sugar and sweetened beverages (SSBs) compared to non-eligible individuals, which could result in potential negative health outcomes. This can be attributed to the lack of restrictions on SSB purchases with SNAP benefits. In view of the increasing calls from advocates and policymakers to restrict the purchase of SSBs with SNAP benefits, we performed a systematic review to assess its impact towards SSB purchases and consumption.
