TERTp Mutation and its Prognostic Value in Glioma Patients Under the 2021 WHO Classification: A Real-World Study.

Cancer Med

January 2025

Department of Neurosurgery, Center for Malignant Brain Tumors, National Glioma MDT Alliance, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.

Background: The 2021 WHO Classification of Central Nervous System Tumors introduces more molecular markers for glioma reclassification, including TERT promoter (TERTp) mutation as a key feature in glioblastoma diagnosis.

Aims: Given the changes in the entities included in each subtype under the new classification, this research investigated the distribution, prognostic value, and correlations with other molecular alterations of TERTp mutation in different subgroups under this latest classification.

Methods: All glioma patients admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital for surgical resection or biopsy from 2011 to 2022 were included.

Erlotinib-induced Perioral Lesions Resembling Scleroderma.

Acta Dermatovenerol Croat

November 2024

Constantin A. Dasanu MD, PhD, Lucy Curci Cancer Center, Eisenhower Health, 39000 Bob Hope Dr, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270 , USA;

Erlotinib, an epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI), is currently used in the therapy of several solid malignancies. This agent has been associated with several dermatological side-effects, the most common being papulo-pustular acneiform rash. Herein we describe a unique skin effect in a patient treated with erlotinib for non-small cell lung cancer.

VISTA is a key immune checkpoint receptor under investigation for cancer immunotherapy; however, its signaling mechanisms remain unclear. Here we identify a conserved four amino acid (NPGF) intracellular motif in VISTA that suppresses cell proliferation by constraining cell-intrinsic growth receptor signaling. The NPGF motif binds to the adapter protein NUMB and recruits Rab11 endosomal recycling machinery.

Establishment and characterization of a new mouse gastric carcinoma cell line, MCC.

Cancer Cell Int

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Medical Proteomics, Beijing Proteome Research Center, National Center for Protein Sciences (Beijing), Beijing Institute of Lifeomics, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

Background: The aim of this study was to establish a primary mouse gastric carcinoma cell line.

Methods: Gastric adenocarcinoma in the body region was induced in immunocompetent BALB/c mice using N-Methyl-N-nitrosourea and a 2% NaCl solution. Fresh gastric cancer tissue samples were cultured in 1640 medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum for primary culture and subculture.

With the rapid development of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene testing of lung adenocarcinoma patients has been routinely carried out, EGFR mutations are also possible for some small samples of non-smoking female lung squamous cell carcinoma patients. This increases the opportunity for targeted therapy for this group of patients. However, drug resistance in patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma during targeted therapy is an important factor affecting subsequent treatment.
