Acute esophageal necrosis (AEN) is an uncommon endoscopic finding characterized by a patchy or diffuse circumferential black pigmentation of the esophageal mucosa, corresponding to ischemic necrosis. It usually presents with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and is thought to be caused by a systemic low blood flow in patients with predisposing risk factors, like advanced age and cardiovascular comorbidities. After initial hemodynamic stabilization, diagnosis is established by esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with careful biopsies and histological evaluation.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a safe and effective therapy for patients with severe aortic stenosis. A Stuck leaflet and severe intraprosthetic regurgitation after valve implantation occur rarely but can lead to sudden haemodynamic deterioration. Mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) of the colon is rare with a poor prognosis. Since the first description of a mixed neoplasm 100 years ago, the nomenclature has evolved, most recently with the 2022 World Health Organization (WHO) classification system. We describe our experience of a case of locoregionally advanced MiNEN of the descending colon treated with curative laparoscopic resection and adjuvant chemotherapy.
