Observations on some patients of high parity delivering in a general hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Int J Gynaecol Obstet

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecologvy, King's Hospital, Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia.

Published: December 1986

In a prospective study 100 consecutive Saudi patients having their tenth or subsequent deliveries in a general hospital were observed. Unlike in some other reports fetal malpresentations, maternal anaemia or hypertension were few. However there was a high incidence of uterine inertia and primary cesarean sections. Early perinatal mortality rate was 50 per 1000. High parity is still a hazard to both mother and baby. Health education and family planning should be improved.

The main obstacle to large scale quantum computing are the errors present in every physical qubit realization. Correcting these errors requires a large number of additional qubits. Two main avenues to reduce this overhead are (i) low-density parity check (LDPC) codes requiring very few additional qubits to correct errors (ii) cat qubits where bit-flip errors are exponentially suppressed by design.

High-resolution fluorescence imaging of ultracold atoms and molecules is paramount to performing quantum simulation and computation in optical lattices and tweezers. Imaging durations in these experiments typically range from a millisecond to a second, significantly limiting the cycle time. In this work, we present fast, 2.

Ecological and Functional Changes in the Hindgut Microbiome of Holstein Cows at High Altitudes.

Animals (Basel)

January 2025

Laboratory of Animal Genetics, Breeding and Reproduction, Ministry of Agriculture of China, National Engineering Laboratory of Animal Breeding, College of Animal Science and Technology, China Agricultural University, Beijing 100193, China.

The extreme environmental conditions of the Qinhai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) challenge livestock survival and productivity, yet little is known about how high-altitude environments impact the gut microbiota of dairy cows. To fill this gap, we systematically investigated the differences in the hindgut microbiome between 87 plateau Holstein cows and 72 plain Holstein cows using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Our analysis revealed that the hindgut microbiota of the plateau group exhibited lower species richness but higher evenness than that in the plain group.

Hybrid superconductor-semiconductor Josephson field-effect transistors (JoFETs) function as Josephson junctions with gate-tunable critical current. Additionally, they can feature a non-sinusoidal current-phase relation (CPR) containing multiple harmonics of the superconducting phase difference, a so-far underutilized property. Here we exploit this multi-harmonicity to create a Josephson circuit element with an almost perfectly π-periodic CPR, indicative of a largely dominant charge-4e supercurrent transport.

Objective: To determine the prevalence of low-dose aspirin (LDA), missed opportunities in pre-eclampsia prevention and its impact on maternofetal outcomes among patients with pre-eclampsia.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of pre-eclampsia patients at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City, Nigeria, prospectively recruited from February 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. Data were collected using interviewer-administered questionnaires and medical records.
